Over/under on how many times we sack Wake QB

Nov 18, 2021, 10:12 AM

Let’s do something positive. I’ll take 7.

Haven’t seen them play enough to know. Just betting on our D to get to him.

If there is any small critique of our defense this year at

Nov 18, 2021, 11:25 AM

all, it would be that the guy who "gets there" has whiffed on actually bringing down the opposing player. But, usually, help arrives. But, as in most cases, the longer a play survives, the more the chance of success shifts to the offense.

BVs defense has performed amazing overall, but there HAVE been times where in the past, we would have gotten guys on the ground short of the markers, nowadays they seem to squirm loose just long enough to gain that last yard and keep drives alive. We do seem to bow up in the red zone, though. I guess that is what you would call the classic "Bend, but don't Break" style of defense.

In other words, the Heartburn, Tums and Rolaids style of defense. :)

I agree with your assessment 100%

but if you ever meet coach V, I wouldn't use that "bend but don't break" moniker; he seems to hate it

He threw 3 interceptions in his last game. I'm hoping he at least matches that total.

He is elusive, but he is not Cunningham from Louisville. Defensively, Clemson matches up well with anyone. Clemson Defense has not allowed 30 points in a game this year, don't think Wake gets there either. This game will come down to how well the guys in Orange can move the ball, and get it in the endzone. Davis Allen, and Jake Briningstool have good games for a Tigers win.

He and his running back hold the ball jointly for 1.5 second

while he reads the defense.

It works great against average defenses.

But it has never worked against Clemson ever since they started the scheme.

I’ll go 5 or 6 but we will hopefully get some pressure on him, their offense is very hard to stop because the DB are wore down trying to run with great athletes for 4-5 seconds a play when it’s normally 2-2.5 seconds.

It’s going to be a true test, our defense can do ok but we need some offensive production out of our offense too. We don’t need them to be great but hold the ball for some long drives & actually score TD’s.

I’m glad Shipley & Pace are back!

Watched WF 4 times this year. Hartman will destroy our secondary if he's given time.

Congratulations. Do you bump your own post up when you are wrong?

I posted a score prediction of 45 to 17 and saying that our d line would sack Hartman early and often, as well as, our offensive line pushing around Wake's defense. The problem is that I have been similarly optimistic for several games this year that didn't produce similar results. Next time take Bear Bryant's advice and "act like you have been there before." Basically, just ask yourself if you want to be like Walt Deptula.

No I just don't understand the hey look at me syndrome. It's old fashioned, but heck, I'm getting old. One of my favorite quotes is by Walter Payton. "When you're good at something, you tell everyone. When you're great at something, they tell you." I'm going to keep aspiring to be great. It might not have happened yet, but that is still my goal.

Very similar. 7 sacks and Tigers win by 17, but a lower score. Maybe 34-17.

Well they reclassified a Nolan Turner TFL in the second quarter to a sack so we had 8. Had to bump this up to tell bareftn I was wrong.
