Honest answers. Do you believe with what Clemson has done

Oct 3, 2022, 10:31 AM

the last 15 years, that we are now one of the blue blood programs?

I would want to say yes but it appears the media and etc don’t believe so. Bama, Michigan, etc can barley beat teams and done fall. When Clemson does that they drop us or don’t move us up in the polls.

Just curious that if we aren’t what is it going to take to be one?

Over the last 15 years…

only Alabama stands above Clemson. The elite programs over the last 15 years: Bama, Clemson, Ohio State. I’m not including Oklahoma, UGA, ND or LSU.

We see that, but it seems lost by the pundits of espn and other media.

I see that I didn't really answer the question

Blue bloods... we will NEVER be "blue bloods" and I'm proud of that. We will always be "little old Clemson" and be defined by Frank Howard saying to the Queen of England, "how ya doing, queen?".

The blue bloods are entitled, snooty, arrogant and live in their won little world of perceived greatness over what their grandfather and great grand father did. Not us. Not Clemson. Go Tigers!

Media doesn't respect ACC - even when we consistently were beating our ACC foes by massive margins, the commentary was "Clemson hasn't played anyone like ND...or Okla...or Ohio State...etc. etc.
Ultimately, it doesn't really matter, as long as we win. Plus, believe Dabo and coaches are great at utilizing the "disrepect card."

We just need to handle our business and we will get another chance to convince the non-believers.

Side note: Bold prediction - Michigan to get upset by Indiana this weekend - Clemson to move up to #4.

Honestly, I don't think we are seen as that yet. Currently

Oct 3, 2022, 10:41 AM

elite? Yes, at least in my book. But, "Bluebloods" get that way over generations. It will take at least another 15 years of the same before several generations have grown up knowing nothing but excellence from the Clemson football program. Then, we could begin to enter that "Blueblood" conversation.

Agreed, you have to have some old school lineage to get the "blueblood" status. As a previous poster stated, we would need another 15 yrs of this kind of production where you have multiple generations who can attest to "when" Clemson was great, and they "still" are great

Being a blue blood is more than success on the field. USC and Texas are blue bloods but have done nothing on the field in a long time. So there needs to be historical success but does not need to be recent. There needs to be name recognition and a large fan base. Being near a geographical population center is also a plus

Mt personal take on it.

Oct 3, 2022, 10:46 AM

You've got great points. Uga two weeks in a row looked like crap against a d2 team and Mizzou. Won't fall. We would have. Dabo said they won't let us in so I guess we gotta kick in the door.

DW4 didn't win Heisman but Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield did. Watson. 4-0 against them. DW4 was the best player in college football for 3 years and it all started with Watson to Peake for a TD I remember it well!!

That's what is great about being Clemson and always will be. No one likes us so its difficult for us to field a championship team much less win the championship every week based on style of play points to some idiots with a media Ed degree.

Takes killer athletes and killer heart from do what we have done the past decade. I see heart. I don't see bully's up front at every position including rotation. 18' dline would punk u down and hurt u and be nice about it

UGa did fall.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Absolutely.

Oct 3, 2022, 10:49 AM

We, for instance, had a relatively horrible year last season. Yet, we were ranked above most bluebloods because we have Playoff credentials which is true of only three teams right now, Bama, OSU and Clemson.

I expect Clemson to be on top of the menu until Dabo retires and if he steps away leaving a full house and personal recommendation for his replacement we may continue even then.

What a thin skin.

Also, asking for a friend, what’s a “barley beat.” Something by a DJ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Two ways to look at this - and you can use winsipedia.com

Oct 3, 2022, 11:05 AM

In the modern era, yes, we absolutely are.

Where we get hurt in the all time history of the game is way back in the earlier days when those "blue blood" programs racked up a bunch of their wins. Which, in my opinion, is virtually irrelevant at this point. But you can go to winsipedia and compare clemson to those programs - we are a top 20 all time program in most measures, but just dont start up to the "blood bloods" yet in that regard (think all time wins, winning percentage, bowls, bowl wins, draft picks, national titles, so on and so forth).

For the mainstream media including ESPN which is guys in their 40s and 50s, no.

It's why Miami and FSU keep getting so much credit.

For any kids out of high school, yes.

They don't care or know about anything past 10 years ago.
