I just paid $35 to Bin Boy.

The concept of getting a trash bin cleaned seems...stupid. I've hosed mine out a few times in the 8 years we've been in this house, which is a little gross, thinking about the runoff on my driveway, but not bad enough to drive me to extreme measures. But then, last week, I took threw a rotisserie chicken container (with carcass) in the bottom of the empty bin after trash was picked up that day. Instantly regretted not putting it in a couple of plastic grocery bags, at least. So it festered in 85-90 degrees for a week. Trash picked up a few days ago, and that thing is still sitting in the bottom of the bin, probably melded to the bin itself by chickenrot. We're officially at groce levels.

So, $35, one time fee, they come pick it up after trash day on Tuesday, and return it clean enough to eat out of, allegedly. What a country. They have subscription services--there are apparently people who want their bins cleaned every month.

Took a drill to the bottom of ours

Sep 23, 2021, 1:43 PM

Drilled 5-6 holes in the bottom. Serves two purposes. It keeps liquid crap from fermenting in the bottom, it drains out, and it also drains when the garbage men leave the lid open and we have rain. Got tired of dumping nasty ### water when I got home after a hard rain.

No, only that at the exact moment I opened the post.

Sep 23, 2021, 2:26 PM

I carry mine to the end of the street once a week.

Sep 23, 2021, 1:53 PM

The end of the street is where the WM Facility is. One of these days I'm going to grill those guys a steak during lunch.

The trash can Waste Management originally provided us

Sep 23, 2021, 2:22 PM

was from the 1980's, it was so raggedy I had neighbors complaining about it. Looked like several bobcats(the animal and the skid steer type) had attacked it over the years, cracked wheels with no rubber tire part, lid wouldn't close, bordering on unusable. I requested one for over 8 months. Ended up having to cancel the service and sign back up under my wife's name. Boom, had a new one in a week.

I hope you enjoyed my cool story!

back when I lived in an area that had trash service

Sep 23, 2021, 2:07 PM

when mine got "aromatic", I'd discreetly go swap it with a neighbors under cover of night.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lol, I just did this a couple of weeks ago.

Sep 23, 2021, 2:23 PM

I had maggots in mine from the dog poop I was throwing in there. After it was emptied, I slyly switched with the neighbor who did NOT have maggots growing in it.

for FBCoach. For some reason I believe that his trash bin couldn’t be cleaned and would need to be set on fire.

If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

That feels remarkably close to the price of a new bin.

Sep 23, 2021, 9:07 PM

Same service here is like $15. They have a truck that just picks it up and does it right there.
