"Clemsoning" gem from ESPN this morning...

Dec 2, 2015, 9:33 AM

According to Mike Greenberg, the term will be relevant again this weekend if we lose. I normally like him but that's just sorry ### journalism there.

Yeah I was amazed by that. So a loss to a top 10 team in a championship game is now the C word? 100+ teams would love to have that kind of season.

So what would you call it if Bama lost to Florida?

Dec 2, 2015, 2:32 PM

Choking, I guess!

We can't lose EVER, NEVER, EVER again. Did I say EVER?

^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^

We are not allowed to lose ever again, or it means we have choked. Amazing that a so-called unbiased "expert" will say that UNC is going to beat us, and 5 minutes later, claim that if we lose...we are c-wording again. Screw all of them! I am going to send a poster size picture of my bird finger to ESPiN when this is over and we have a title.

Bet he wouldn't say that to Dabo's face. That show throws the weakest softball questions at desk and are so scared to upset anyone. It is a show of butt kidding their guests

All we have to do is win. When all the bandwagoners get on board ESPiN will cave and get real friendly with Clemson.

I heard it too. I was amazed that it came up again. Sounds like more bulletin board material for the team.

That just shows we are really a top team. I mean who would we have to lose to for the c word to not be relevant? The Panthers?

Without it being "Clemsoning"?

Our only option is 15-0 every year.

In fairness to him, he also said chaos reigning is good for them (talk radio) and that is why he wants us to lose.
His job is to inform, annoy, and elate folks. And he doesn't have to do all three at once. My guess is that most Clemson fans fall into the annoy category.
In the end, just win and it doesn't matter.
See ya in Charlotte!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is a really stupid thing for him to say.

Dec 2, 2015, 9:59 AM

I acknowledge that we earned the term back a few years ago but anyone who thinks it's appropriate to use it if we lose to a top 10 team in an ACC championship game is too stupid to be a journalist. I probably won't respect that journalist ever again now. That's Kornblutt level awful right there.

Re: That is a really stupid thing for him to say.

Dec 2, 2015, 10:30 AM

Lots of teams have earned the abuse of the media in that case. usuc the last 2 years should be referenced as such or choking the chicken. Only 1 program has to take this abuse. Nick Saban cries if his team is an underdog or gets ripped for playing Charleston Southern. Dabo rips the small minded idiots for insulting our team and they say it's a legitimate question. Screw greenberg and all the rest.

Dec 2, 2015, 11:53 AM [ in reply to That is a really stupid thing for him to say. ]

I wouldn't even say that we earned the term years ago. So we lost a few games we shouldn't have when we were highly ranked. No more so than at least 5 other teams in the same time frame. Never once have I heard a similar derogatory term created for any other team.

Dec 2, 2015, 12:01 PM

Should really focus on finishing up that time machine so we can go back a few years and erase whoever started this 'Clemsoning' nonsense. I know there's going to discussions every week about top teams losing, but branding it in such a way to suggest a team chokes after a 12-0 season is just bad journalism. Any team can win any given Saturday - especially late in a season (ex Citadel).

Dec 2, 2015, 10:24 AM

some point next season, we will have "Clemsoned" again. ESPN will never let it die, just to get back at Dabo for his rant against their reporter.

Otherwise ND pulled one this year by losing to a lower ranked Stanford. Bama pulled one by losing to a lower ranked Ole Miss. Need I go on?

Dec 2, 2015, 3:26 PM

Perhaps 10 years of loss-less seasons couldn't get that monkey off our backs.

One loss to an un-ranked will certainly do it.

Sounds like losing to a lower but still ranked will do it as well.

Ugh!

Dec 2, 2015, 3:29 PM

Even though it seems childish I think the talking heads and "experts" use it just to get social media action. Few really believe it and you can tell by how they say it.

Reminds me of my daughter when she was very young. Would say words randomly just to get attention. Early on her favorite was toilet talk like "poopy". Some of the adults aren't too far off. Just wan't our attention.
