if you want it to stop then beat them..well they got throttled in bowl games last year and havent won a national title in three years..yet espn keeps saying they are the best..their if you want us to hush about them then teat them argument holds no water..they will continue to prop them up no matter how many times they lose

You're spot on. Reminds me of the early mid-90's when ESPN would GUSH over how great the BIG TEN was. ESPN were BIG TIME BIG TEN pumpers before their SEC TV deal.
It would #### us off to hear Kirk Herbstreit, etc tell it. The BIG TEN was living off a reputation that was built decades prior. By then the SEC, ACC, etc...were already putting faster players on the field that BIG TEN teams couldn't match up with. No matter, ESPN kept touting them as the BEST football conference long past the reality of it.
The SEC is similarly living off the reputation of what they did years ago. They may still be the best football conference, but its by a slim margin. I suspect that if they didn't have ESPN to prop them up they'd have about 5 teams ranked in the Top 25 right now.

They (media) visit schools over the offseason, and get enamored with the "sleeping giant picks" ie Arkansas, Coots, UGA last year- schools that are selling their product the hardest. Then those teams lose a couple games early, doubt sets in, their fanbase reverts right back to "we will never get over the hump with this coach, qb, in this division, etc" players hear it, stop buying in, coaches fight each other on the sideline (looking at you coots), players start thinking about themselves and if their draft status is being hurt, the 4 star cb, qb, rb that's 3rd string wants to transfer instead of riding the pine at their bowl game in Shreveport, and what you are left with is a fractured team that's just not that good. Only a few teams in each conference get past that. The coots have sunk right back into that and will stay there. And the cycle continues.
