Yes sir, but I think that it's a little more than the $2 bills. There are fan bases that just don't know how to act when they leave their city limits bc they've never been anywhere before, and they think they are suppose to act tough, when 99% of the time, there's nothing tough about them, especially in todays society where kids are raised to be soft, but disrespectful, and wouldn't bust a grape, all mouth with no action. That is very different than the environment that I was raised in, in the 50's, 60's, and 70's where young mem, and even the older men would stand their ground without hesitation, and a very lot of our women would watch our backs ready to battle also if needed. Those were the good ole days when your average American were tough, and so very proud of our country where sitting during the national anthem would never be tolerated unless you were in a wheel chair!!!!

Yes, because back in those days, why bother making the place accessible for those in a wheel chair? Just a waste of money building anything other than stairs. All that effort was to make sure the complexions didn't mix, used separate bathrooms and that the fairer sex knew their place. Are you still offended that they even depicted Lucy with one of those... cubans? How did that work out?

OK, so while expressing displeasure with another poster who decried the wimpification of today's football fans from a traditionally non-wimpy mid-west state, you've conflated the other poster's message as being evidence that the other poster is an awful person who is against wheel chair ramps for the physically disabled and is also a racist.

Yeah, I am always call out anything that blames the "problems" on the youths and everything was better "back in the day" There was ZERO reason for going down that line of thought as most of the folks traveling to bowls are likely over 50.....





Next anyone complaining about standing/sitting over the anthem within modern context at this point while also talking about the good ol' days (how can one miss that problem) ... sigh. Add in comments about women and the disabled (my father was often wheelchair bound) one need to shake their head at that post.

I don't necessarily agree with whatever folks are protesting (kneeling during the anthem) but I support it 110% Why? it is exercising one's first amendment rights at a symbol of government. No only that but there shall be no infringement on dictating how one should be force to interact (speech) with the symbols of government.

Here is one of my favorite judicial lines of thought that any conservative should follow.

“If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion or force citizens to confess by word or act their faith therein. If there are any circumstances which permit an exception, they do not now occur to us,” said Justice Robert Jackson in his opinion West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette (the pledge of allegiance in schools).

If there is an area that is the most pure form of government overreach is the codification on how to "participate" in a government action. Yeah, there is "law" on how to engage a symbol of government.

Woke - sure if you think a libertarian position on our liberties is "woke". Darn straight.

Nuremberg? He was brilliant, I advise anyone to watch the Armed Forces Video of the Nuremberg trial. It is much better than any of the modern adaptations of the trial, and watching will definitely understand anti-fascism. It can be found on YouTube.

Especially disappointed to read that IA State fans (or any fans of a school based in the USA mid-west / corn-fed regions) would act like occupy-Wall-Street 'tough guys.'

Might have expected such foolishness and rude behavior from fans of UCLA or Washington or Oregon or Michigan.

But the wimpification of football fans from Iowa is depressing.

My guess is that there is just a plainsman/yankee/southern (and florida which is yankee) culture difference.

Iowa (and the upper plains) folks are normally beyond awesome. They do tend to be a bit more frugal with tipping culture and tend to expect more work - or at least more work & efficiency for bigger tips. There is a "earned" factor.

It was an interesting discussion with a couple that was friends of MrsFutureDoc from Southwestern Minnesota (think Morris) and then Fargo about tipping/waiting. There was definitely some realignment going out with them. They though that southern service was artificially "nice" not through (ie they expected a very long-explanation of any and all "special/promotion", not prompt enough for little things -like if they asked for an extra bowl of something, it was a "do not pass go demand" or at least rude when they didn't have the staff hovering(and yeah I did my stint in the food industry). They only thought folks earned a big tip was when there was a lot of request and those were done efficiency. If they did not make as lot of use from the waiter, etc or if they were not as prompt as they though, the tip was lost. They were hyper sensitive for making small request promptly regardless if it was made during a slammed time.

The idea that you could be a "easy" client/table and still provide a good tip was kinda a odd item for them.
