Orange Empire and "Tradition"

Sep 7, 2012, 10:02 AM

I will be up front and say that I am a fan of Lee Brice. He has good songs and he has bad songs, but sometimes the bad songs pay the bills so that better songs can be written in the future. He is a Tiger, so I support him through the good and bad. He will bring nothing but good press to Clemson.

I doubt that there has ever been a "smash hit" written solely about a specific college football team. This song was obviously written with a rock beat that would sound good with 80K people going crazy before our Tigers run down the hill. It may catch on or it may flop. Either way, does it really matter? Tigernet and Facebook have been blowing up with statements like "this song sucks" and "we don't need a new tradition."

Be open-minded enough to know what "sucks" to you may appeal to someone else. I don't like piped-in rap music, but others do.

Be astute enough to know that traditions get their beginning from change. I believe Clemson played a little football before we put the rock on top of the hill.

Be a Tiger and support another Tiger!

I was just saying this morning that I hadn't bothered to listen to the song because I heard the phrase "country artist." I am not a country fan by any stretch--I don't have a problem with it, I just don't care to listen to it. But I finally broke down and gave it a listen and you know what, it's pretty good. It's nothing that will ever get radio play, but that's not what it's meant for. It's a song written specifically to hype up a crowd and I think it will be successful at that. I have to admit I got goosebumps listening to it, in anticipation of sitting in the Valley tomorrow.

You think they could play that as well. It couldn't be any worse, the little guy has got some real talent.

If he's a Tiger, you have to support him. No Choice. LOL***

Those are 2 words that should never be used in the same sentence lol. Besides, once this blows over in few days I'm sure we'll never hear about this Orange Empire song ever again. Simply put, it is not a very good song.

hence my use of the quotes!***
