Orange Bowl tickets from Clemson Ticket Office

Dec 3, 2013, 4:05 PM

I understand that Radakovich would like for Clemson fans and IPTAY members buy through them. Here is the problem and I hope he understands.

The tickets you get through them are basically crappy seats. Especially when you have been a major giver for over 50 years. I had seats at the Chick-fil-A bowl on about the 5 yard line and I bought my tickets through IPTAY.

I had friends get tickets near the 50 yard line through other places and paid the same amount of money.

If the Clemson ticket office wants Clemson fans to buy tickets through their office, then they should be giving PRIME seats and not the crappy seats, based on IPTAY membership.

That is the problem with buying through the Clemson ticket office. Before I go through the ticket office I would have to know where my seats are located. If not, I can get them through other places at the same price and have much better seats.

Curious, how many iptay points

do you have?

I only have like 59 IPTAY points and I agree with the guy above. For the last Orange Bowl we would have been in the upper deck so we paid the same thing for them from StubHub and we were down low on the sideline near the tunnel.

Well, you have to decide

Dec 3, 2013, 4:37 PM

what's more important...better seats or supporting your university.
Side note, I believe DRad will address this issue with all bowls. That better seats MUST be provided to schools.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How about the University supporting the fans?

Dec 3, 2013, 5:25 PM

Clemson fans shell out plenty of money on tickets and other licensed merchandise........

If I had the choice of a 50 YD seat and a 5 yrd seat for the same money then duh!....I'll love my University by being there and supporting the team.

If all OB seats available to Clemson were between the 40 yd

Dec 3, 2013, 6:14 PM

lines lower deck, you gonna spend $250 each to sit there?
I doubt most would not.
That is why the seats available are spread across all price ranges.
I do think Clemson can do a better job offering QUICKLY any prime seats that are available to those with lower IPTAY points.

I'm sure he will when sales are off for a few bowls. if people keep filling the same crappy seats he wont do anything

Maybe we can donate and just not go to the game?

Dec 3, 2013, 7:27 PM [ in reply to Well, you have to decide ]

Does anyone actually care about watching the game?

Bonus IPTAY Points for purchasing tickets from the school***

Totally agree....I have 250 IPTAY points and

Dec 3, 2013, 5:16 PM

That has been my gripe all along. It's not Clemson's fault, it's the bowls. All of them do it. They reward the true fans with end zone seats and give the prime seats to the local businesses.

Re: Totally agree....I have 250 IPTAY points and

Dec 3, 2013, 5:35 PM

which is essentially stupid because the fans will cheer & enjoy it, making the experience better...probably also spending more money when you're having a good time & happy fans...
of course they make tons of money from local businesses & sponsors, so how do you balance that at or get the advantage for fans...more money or higher pricing or what?

can't blame the bowls for wanting to make money, but they should at least divide the sections around the stadiums laterally according sponsor/fans & pricing of course...instead of just filling whole sections in or near the endzones from top to field with one group of fans seating.
i'm satisfied not being all the way down front for a decent priced ticket, but dayum...all the way away from the action or up in the nosebleeds is shiat! the fans are the ones really watching & caring about the game anyways.
when we always get crap seats it makes you not want to go as much or travel as far, so surely there's an easy solution.
i think the lateral sectioning is the way to go for sure, just not enough of it happening. stubhub & the likes seem to have a grasp on how to make it work!

Mostly true, but Clemson had seats at 20/30 yd line area at last OB. Highest point iptay donors get those, and they should....but if not all are taken in short order, they should be offered to those with lower points.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Now THAT is a FANTASTIC idea

Dec 3, 2013, 5:31 PM [ in reply to Bonus IPTAY Points for purchasing tickets from the school*** ]

You should tweet that to Radakovich immediately. Seriously. If he and the Orange Bowl are worried about allocated tickets not being bought, then he needs to know that fans want SOME sort of incentive to purchase full-price tickets for sh!tty seats.

Here's another idea: For every ticket a Clemson fan buys from Clemson and donates to the military (vettix.org) or to a children's charity, we'll get additional IPTAY points.

Or priority in seat relocation requests in DV, within your giving level.***

If they offered that, I'd buy 2-4 tickets right now

No questions asked.

Re: Orange Bowl tickets from Clemson Ticket Office

Isn't the point of measuring the individual team's ticket sales though their ticket office just to know the overall attendance (and support of the bowl) by fans of the team? If so, why aren't the bowls sophisticated enough to just take pictures of the crowd and make some decent estimates based on color of clothing worn or something. I'm sure a computer algorithm could do this pretty easily with a decent level of accuracy, but it doesn't even need to be that complicated.

Also, in the past we have been hosed by not getting the number of tickets we need. I have requested 6 and only received 4. Also, not knowing until December 11th that you have tickets or not, puts you in a bind on finding hotel reservations and good flights.
