Opinions on Rule Change for Hurry Up Offense?

Jul 17, 2013, 5:10 PM

Lots of coaches are saying that the hurry up offenses are a safety concern to their players. They don't have enough time to substitute and therefore their players are tired and can't protect themselves. What are your opinions?

Absurd argument. Clearly they just want to take away

a style of play that they can't defend.

By that rationale we should take away the 4th quarter, and forget overtime.

There's no reason a defense can't be ready for every snap. It's a completely valid style of play and entertaining to boot.

by coaches who either can't or simply don't want to prepare for HU/NH style of offense. They would rather coach against more convetional offenses because it plays to their strengths and fits their recruiting model.

Won't matter for Clemson. This team will not be stopped.

Jul 17, 2013, 5:37 PM

And, I believe the teams to come will be just as AWESOME!

I say stop them on 3rd down and get your weak arses off the field so you don't have to defend them nearly as long. Take your whipping like a man. If you can't take it maybe you should play another sport like say chess.

Well, when they get tired they can just cramp up and get an injury time out like the LSwho players did.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's where the rule changes need to be addressed. If they

can't get off the field, carry them off and ban them from playing for the next 5 plays.

Jul 17, 2013, 6:19 PM [ in reply to Re: Opinions on Rule Change for Hurry Up Offense? ]

It's clearly an attempt to restrict a method of play that they don't or can't compete with. The offense is out there the same number of plays as their defense --- it's a weak attempt at rule changes!

Re: Opinions on Rule Change for Hurry Up Offense?

Jul 17, 2013, 9:22 PM

Agreed! The next thing they'll try may be to say that some teams have bigger, stronger linemen and backs, and their players could get hurt when they attempt to tackle one of them. This is not a game for a bunch of pansies. If it's too rough, play horse shoes. Oh wait, somebody could get their foot hit by a rolling horse shoe.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, they want the hurry up part to be slowed down...

Jul 17, 2013, 11:05 PM [ in reply to Re: Opinions on Rule Change for Hurry Up Offense? ]

so they can get their d setup. They don't need to substitute for fatigue it's for putting the right players on the field for different situations.

We run all our offense with almost any and our players. That's why it's taken The Chad so long to install this monster.

Screw em. Let the game pass em by.

They want to stop football from it's natural progression because the sport is leaving them behind.

That's like folks complaining about learning to use a computer and swearing that double entry accounting will always be the best.

There's about to be a 'changing of the guard.' Dabo and the other handful of coaches who've frontiered this offense will be in greater demand than Saban and the old coots who are trying to hold on to the past.

I'm an old coot and even I can see that! I'm surprised you younger guys don't see what's coming. Too busy with families and jobs, I recon.
