I became an official Clemson fan when I was about 5 or 6, and don’t ever remember Clemson dropping an opener.
Has Clemson ever lost an opening game to start the season?

I remember that game. Marshall was a late replacement for Tulane game that was dropped so TB and his former players wouldn't face off in that opener if I remember correctly.

A NOON KICKOFF AT THE END OF AUGUST? ###?!?
By the 3rd qtr I’m watching drunk college kids passing out all around me. By the 4th qtr I’m thinking to myself “Am I going to survive this poop show?!?” I didn’t die, so that was my only personal highlight of the day.

I’ll never forget our center (Tommy Sharpe) throwing up all over the football before snapping it on at least one play.
What a pitiful game. Clemson football has come quite a long way.

Hands-down the worst game I’ve ever been to in Death Valley. Heat they could fry an egg, a a Clemson team that looked like they hadn’t practiced at all. Someone had stolen my cooler when I got back to the tailgate. Got in a fight with my girlfriend, you name it

We lost to Georgia for our first game of the year in the 1982 season. There was a very controversial last play of the game, but of course the game was in Athens, so...

Tommy Bowden always seemed to have problems early being ready for the season. I was always scared of losing to a nobody the first couple games, remember Troy.

I’m 68 and have been a Clemson fan / supporter since 1979. Don’t remember many opening loses, the one at unc still stands out..... l can’t stand that place, never have, never will.
