It's about the defense against UGA......

The defense won the CFA bowl because it was the best performance of the year given the quality of the opponent.
The SEC teams are built on defense, it's why they've won so many NC. I think the results over the past few years have shown a top defense will beat a top offense almost every time.
If BV's defense can outplay UGA's defense on a comparative basis, then that will be the way to win the game.....points are going to be harder to come by than most think. Just look at the points the offense has put up on SCAR the past few years. That is what should be expected against UGA....they have more talent across the board than SCAR and expecting a bunch of TD's against that crowd is not being realistic. I think Chad actually needs to get conservative and play field position in this game....boring football if you will.
Of course, football is a crazy game, but the offensive production that a realist should be expect in the UGA game should be something similar to the recent SCAR games and the LSU game. That's why it will be up to the defense to win the game and keep UGA's points low.

Not to oversimplify things, but Georgia's goal is going to be to grind this game out. They are going to try to have success on the ground and try to sustain it-- keep our offense off the field and the crowd out of the game. If they're successful, this game looks like the 2nd half of SCar last year.

UGA will present the best offense Clemson has faced since pre-BV. they are experienced, talented and balanced. if they can establish a run, we're toast.

Of course I'm not referring to trick play on 4th and 9 on our side of the field.

Our defense needs to stay off the field. That's how we win.***

I agree with most of these points. Our D absolutely has to step up and get some 3-and-outs. If UGA is allowed to keep their O on the field all day - we will be crying in our beer.

They're going to pound the rock with Gurshall. We HAVE to keep those guys off the field if we're going to win.
Otherwise, I agree, it's going to be a long night.

This sounds good in theory. But it doesn't really match up with what Georgia does. Bobo is developing into a great OC. but he's not nearly as smart as Spurrier. While I think we have the ability to just pound away with Gurley and Marshall, I dont think we will. Another Dawg fan, may have been Comfort, posted some stats describing how explosive our offense is. I think we had the most plays of 20+ yards in the game last year but dont quote me on that. Regardless, Bobo prides himself on balance. I think we will throw as much as we run and that will lead to some really quick strike scores on our part. Which will put your offense right back on the field.
I'm a big Bobo fan but I'm don't see him abandoning years of personal preference for this game. We will be balanced...even if it kills us.

i agree. when i say that if UGA establishes the run, Clemson is toast, i mean that if UGA can run and Clemson has to respect and defend the run, Murray will punish us w/ the pass. similar to what USC did. and UGA/Bobo has more to work with.

if bobo is stupid enough to try and get into a shoot out with an offense as good as ours he will lose. if he doesn't pound us with two of best backs in college football he should be fired. I can see him going to play action after we have to move up in the box to stop the run, but not before. but if our secondary is not much improved, we are in big time trouble because if they establish their passing game, it will open up the run lanes for those backs. but Georgia will NOT win a shoot out game in dv. I am sure they have watched the 6 losses in cm time here and know how and when to attack. but are they smart enough to do it or not? time will tell!

They don't want to get into a shootout because they have even more issues on their D than we do.
No, they'll opt for ball control and play-action to keep us honest.

a shootout is a bad term... it implies both teams are wide open... a la WAC, BYU vs Hawaii in the 90s. UGA-Clemson would be more like "trading scores." ... and if that is the case, i'd rather have the team leading 5-7 minute drives vs. a HUNH offense only using 2-3 minutes of the clock. in the 4th quarter, the more rested defense will be in a better position to make a stop... and we need to get over UGA having a terrible defense. they have a young, inexperienced defense, but they are talented. UGA has a lot more depth than a tradional ACC team, so you really don't know who playing behind starters.
we can all remember the last time Clemson played another offensive team and Dabo said that our defense is going to surprise everyone in the game. unfortunately he was right. i know that was a couple years ago and last year we had the great stand against LSU, when they had us beat... but remember the game before in Death Valley when we couldn't stop the Coots 2nd string QB and 3rd string RB in the 2nd half? we still have a lot to prove on defense.

points, which not too many people expected, given Bama's defense. Georgia lit 'em up pretty good. Those two backs they have are ### good.
I hope we can light the Dawgs up.
