Only coaching problem is Robbie Caldwell....

You can't complain about the shotgun in short yardage situations, because teams all over the country do it and have no problem getting first downs or TD's. Oregon runs it all the time in short yardage situations and convert at a high rate. Florida did all the time during the Tebow era. Difference between us and those teams is poor oline play. The oline play was a repeat of the UGA game, decent in the first half terrible in the 2nd. Desean Watson played great, and had zero help from the oline.
Caldwell is in his 4th season and the oline is regressing, even though we have been bringing in higher rated olinemen. Out of Morris, Venables, Mike Reid, and Caldwell; Caldwell is the only coach who hasn't improved his area. Oline play is holding us back. We have too much talent not to have good oline.

Said this same thing last year and at least 75% or more of T-Net was up in arms over it. Caldwell's O-lines have never passed the eye test for me and the stats back it up.

nice that he is from South Carolina, but his resume is weak. He spent 11 seasons at Vandy before coming here.

2nd half, but with FSU in a nickel defense, it's smart to run the ball.
Normally everyone is complaining because Morris abandons the run. In fact, in nearly every loss except FSU last year and NC State 2 years before, it has been a common criticism of Chad Morris. Tonight he suddenly sucks as a playcaller because he runs it too much.

We have athletes everywhere for him and he always becomes gutless when the game is tight.

I agree completely with your statements about the shotgun (or actually pistol, it is not a shotgun unless the QB and RB are at the same level). But I think our OL has not regressed - I think they are pretty good. We had good yardage both against UGA (first half) and FSU. Definitely not in the second half UGA. But still good with inexperienced RB and QB.

I've come to realize we simply don't have any adults making decisions for Clemson a Football. Dabo relies on his coordinators too much at crunch time, could you ever see Bellichik/Walsh/Parcells making these decisions?
When do the grown-ups take over?

If it's so stupid how did Flordia win a national title with Tim Tebow doing the same exact thing? Oregon does the same thing, and have no problems in short yardage running.

Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida during the Urban Meyer era. So your tirade about the formation is invalid, since so many other teams do the same thing and are successful at it.

Sonny Dykes, Larry Fedora, whatever his name is at Ole Miss, and numerous others that I'm not familiar with.
It works just fine for what are typically the top offenses in college football. Football has changed completely in the last 15 years. It's no longer considered bad strategy to use the shotgun and pistol in short yardage.
In fact, Nevada's pistol offense was one of the best short yardage offenses of all time. Just imagine what they could have done without all that bad playcalling.

Florida won two National Championships with that offense.

Auburn did it in 2010 with Malzahn's offense and Cam Newton. There are numerous others as well, but teams that have been winning national championships not based on elite defense like Alabama and LSU have nearly always run a shotgun spread offense over the past decade or so.
FSU last year is a little different because Fisher uses aspects of pro style and spread strategies.
