IPTAY 2020Tax Treatment

Jan 31, 2021, 11:30 AM

Don’t know how many have questioned if the COVID changes to ticket access and contributions might have affected tax treatment of donations but I have. Looking at the attached link it doesn’t appear to change anything unless you give up the bonus points and figure rights to tickets.

What if your donation was tied to great 4 seats in the lower

Deck and you were relegated to 2 seats in the upper deck?

I had a similar situation which was why I researched the question. As I read the article from I believe a credible source, you won’t get a legitimate deduction if you can still maintain your rights to your previous 4 seats in 2021. As someone said you can try any deduction and it may go through if you aren’t audited. Given the year to rear data the IRS has on taxpayers it wouldn’t be worth the risk to me. I don’t think IRS audits are fun regardless of outcome.

a tax deduction. You've never been able to deduct your tickets or 100% of your donation legally... Of course if you aren't audited, it's a moot point.

IPTAY send a tax document to all contributors and you should have received it in the last couple of weeks. I think I received mine last Monday...

I gave up trying to do my own taxes over 15 years ago. IMO, paying for tax prep is money well spent. I'll let the professionals figure it out!
