from legal experts that overturning on appeal is remote based on this alone since that would require the defense to prove that the outcome of the verdict would have been different with this juror not on the jury.

They asked for 30. The former officer's representation asked for probation. He will probably be out in 15 years. He seems like he might kill himself though. 15 years is a long time in solitary confinement.

his life is ruined regardless, what is the difference between 22 and 30 years? Dude will be thoroughly damaged when he gets out, unable to get a job, family long gone, and no prospects for a job in a world he will not even recognize, assuming he is not murdered in prison.

I think he should get more as well.
I also agree that if they put him in GenPop, it probably wont matter much. Solitary drives many literally crazy....
then when/if he gets out, he'll be a pariah, except maybe a police analyst gig at Fox News

I am calling he kills himself. 15 years in solitary confinement might drive him to that. He also is facing federal charges. He is toast.

Frankly, had they constructed a gallows behind the Courthouse, and took Chauvin out, walked him up, blindfolded him, asked him for his last words, gave him a cigarette and then swoosh! ... he's dangling below the gallows, there would be certain "people" who would claim that his punishment was not enough! So they should reel him back up and do it again. Still ... this may or may not be sufficient! It's one sad-a** world we live in!

federal charges that I assume will not run concurrently, but will instead be added to the 22.5 years sentenced to him this week. The court could allow him an early parole to 15 years, assuming he has no other state issues on him while in prison. I assume the federal charges would be added to the 15 years from the court last week.

Chauvin, when talking to the Floyd family, said there would be some news coming out that might give them some peace. I am calling it will be his passing away. Once he gets the Fed charges tacked on, he may just kill himself. He can't be in general population, so I don't see how he can handle it. Time will tell.

I didn't get the impression that anyone was "hoping" he committed suicide. just stating an observation that is often made. Solitary sucks and a long time there doesn't bode well for some.
