letting Venables leave Norman? Clemson with Venables has the number one defense and OU without Venables is ranked 54th.

Also, the in game adjustments that have been made this year have been outstanding. You still have to coach them. Talent alone does not produce a number one anything.

I think the D will be very tough next year. At the start of the season their will be a little problems stopping the run but then again we had those problems this year. Brent Venables is a amazing D coach look at what he did with our horrible D in a couple of years.

Venables does have the benefit of talent this year but some coaches no how to squander it. I'm amazed with his instinct on blitzes and the Dime package he installed this year. He had the tools and he delivered with the number 1 D in the country.

hate in a second. Chad and Brent weren't brought in by Dabo and paid that kind of money based on potential. They were and are outstanding coaches. Wish Chad much success at SMU.

BUT, the experience is a huge drop off but I have faith a top 25 defense is very possible next year.
Especially with the underclassmen that have gotten tons of meaningful playing time spelling the starters.
