One of the worst ref screw-ups I've ever seen was

Dec 30, 2018, 6:25 PM

the play where Isaiah Simmons clearly stripped the ND player of the ball and the ref let ND keep the ball and punt it. Were they totally bind?

I was surprised that SEC refs are more incompetent than ACC

Thank gawd for instant replay crew. If it was reviewable the replay crew would have reversed yet another one.

yes and the hid behind "stopped foward progress" so replay couldnt overturn it yet no whistle sounded.

another blatant thing they missed

Dec 30, 2018, 6:28 PM

was an intentional grounding call on the flea flicker, QB can't throw it away out of bounds after it has been handed off and thrown back to him.

The guy was in a one on one situation, still battling

and going sideways. If the ref had said progress was stopped, he'd have been doing that receiver a disservice because he was clearly fighting for yardage. As it turned out, it screwed Clemson.

That was total incompetence on the refs part. I thought that they would have surely gotten one of the best crews for a game that was this important. But look at all of the re-looks that they missed. Most went our way because they were just such bad misses. But this one they said could not be replayed. I never heard a whistle, and neither did any that were watching the game with me.

Those were SEC refs.

They announced that the whistle blew the play dead so no way to challenge it. Premature whistle

1. There was no whistle, 2. Refs are taught to let play continue

Dec 30, 2018, 6:45 PM

Watch replay, and there is no whistle until after clemson recovery. This is why WV had the long fumble return against us.

The side ref view was blocked, but forward progress was clearly not stopped and clearly no whistle either.

Turn on the Bears Vikings game if you want to see professional zebras F up a game.

That was the worst call of last night but I have seen the inadvertent whistle or some subjective momentum stopped ruled on the field which CANNOT be reviewed.

I would say that almost everything should be reviewed but am still perplexed on why it takes 10 minutes to decide a play where a guy is out of bound by 4 feet.

I am actually pleased that they got the other overturned calls right. I thought the replay booth in Tuscaloosa would be wanting Notre Dame to win.
