Coach Streeters Position Regarding "Tempo Offense"

Feb 20, 2022, 11:21 AM

Curious to know if it's been posted anywhere or if any poster know what coach Streeters position is on the use of tempo?

I.M.O. the biggest thing tempo does is help your OL out; if they aren't dominant.

That said; we know the pitfalls of running up-tempo and not moving the chains. Not a suggestion post; more of a: I haven't seen it posted or I missed it post!

Thanks!

I don't really care how fast the tempo is. I just want our offense to block, pass, catch and run better this year. I do think the tempo helps wear down a defense better, but if the above don't get it done, it just puts the other team back out on the field faster and wears down our defense. A great OL is a huge difference maker, IMO, and that's been a bit of a missing link for us. I did see improvement last year later in the season, but competition may have helped us there.

Being able to consistently throw to a receiver and the ball be caught would be a great improvement this year.

Exactly, right!
I agree 100%. The game no matter how advanced on offense still comes down to blocking well, running and passing well!
Be nice to get back some big play ability! But, teams have learned to make Clemson be patient and make Clemson march it down the field. If we can start taking the dinks and dunks - we march it down the field. At least until we get inside the 20. With a FG kicker like "Big-Toe" Potter they are giving us points; if we can make them pay for dropping 8.
