CLEMSON, S.C., Oct. 31— Chuck McSwain ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns today as unbeaten Clemson defeated Wake Forest, 82-24. Clemson won its eighth game and scored more points than any other team in Atlantic Coast Conference history; the previous record was set in 1954 when Maryland beat Missouri, 74-13.

Clemson scored on all but two possessions, and had 49 points by Halftime. The Tigers set a team record for total offense, gaining more than 750 yards. Cliff Austin scored two of Clemson's touchdowns, on runs of 4 and 3 yards. Clemson's longest scoring effort came on the first play of second half, when the quarterback Homer Jordan connected with Perry Tuttle.

Wake Forest (3-6) scored on passes of 17 and 5 yards from Gary Schofield to Kenny Duckett, a 1-yard run by Carlos Cunningham and a for a 75-yard touchdown. Later, Tuttle caught another touchdown pass from Jordan, this one a 25-yarder.

I was in High School sitting on the bank. Clemson was running basic plays with bench warmers up the gut and busting huge chunk plays.

I remember the Wake Forest Mascot helping out with push ups in a great display of sportsmanship. The Tiger Mascot was spent

we could have scored 100 points if Danny had kept all the starters in the whole game.

Me too. I think we were in the 50's at half time.

I'm a Clemson boy. I was there on The Hill. I sold Programs. I was in 9th Grade at Edwards Junior High. I remember that game very specifically . The next morning at Clemson First Baptist, Gary Barnes (Judge Gary Barnes((Son Greg, "Bad News" Barnes")) sat in his normal seat in front of my family and at CFBC and said to me, "The Wake Forest boys... Even getting an ass-kicking they still came out to receive the kick-off. Even when you are losing, you can't quit. Remember that."

For anyone being specific, he was not a judge at that time, but became one later. He passed away recently. He was a very respectable and honorable man. Taught me more than one lesson. He was one of the great guys and a pillar of the Clemson community back in the day. Played at Clemson in the '60's and then for the Packers, Falcons, and for the Cowboys. Caught the 1at TD ever for the Falcons.

I was there. Sophomore year. Tiger got so tired of the push ups, the Deacon came over to help him out. That was funny.

I was a sophomore and there as well. I remember the stands erupting in laughter not cheers when the 3rd string running back broke loose for a long TD on an off tackle run.

I was there! That's when the Fridge ran WF's punter all over the field - back to about his goal line before he could punt.
