Old Tunes by Old Guys

Jul 11, 2021, 6:08 PM

Ran across an old tune redone by a guy who is now kinda old.
He still can do it, just like the tunes he did when I was at Clemson.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZYy9wlq8QM

I guess even the "redo" is kinda old for most.

Neil is a space trip guy. His talent is hard to put a finger on. He has a good understanding of tune beat. His last venture (a better ipod) -- failed.

Frankie Valli is now 87 and still on tour.
https://frankievallifourseasons.com/shows/

His talent is beyond most, a true super star. He may not be a true countertenor, but close enough with a wider voice range.
He is an American Treasure.

In the old days we listened on radio each week to learn the new Top Ten. For weeks in '64 The Beatles had it wrapped up, then "Dawn" dropped and took over #1 in SC. Folks now don't understand how popular the Beatles were. They think they do, but they don't.

I saw Valli and The Four Seasons at the old Fike Field House. I remember being kinda surprised that they did a lot of "blue" jokes that night.

i keep my Sennheiser 598's around for fun, a surprisingly good set of cans, nothing like those though. I am a big fan of open backs, my coworkers sitting near me at the office, not so much.

Mick Jagger is now 77 and still out there.

He is ????
His vocal talents are less than most singers.
The Stones first came on line when I was at Clemson as anti-beatles (the bad boys).
I am a huge Beatles fan.

The Stones lyrics may be less, but the musicians easily exceed the Beatles. They are GREAT!
While on the surface it would seem Mick is less, in fact he is all.
He is the greatest Rock Star of all time due to his work and longevity.

He can still sell out any venue of any size.

I saw them in Charlotte and at NC State.
I was in Raleigh for the Cop Olympics. I was in good shape and won the 5K foot race at my advanced age with a 16:47. I understand being in shape when older and what it takes.

In the stadium that night walked near the stage to watch. Mick ran up and down the tall scaffolds all out while singing/shouting. He was non-stop. He was in excellent shape -> no way I could do that.
I guess the tales of dope and party are true, but I am positive that after that performance Mick was eager to get to his bed -> alone. I remain in awe. The guy is a true high level athlete.

Ha ha! Mick took the stage and never stopped. A true performer with a lot of chemical manipulation. They’d party for days and not sleep between shows. My God, I bet they passed enough of every feel good pharm through their systems to feed Africa.

those of us old guys must remember the canteen in the quad.had a juke box.got to CU in '64.don't think i'm mistaken in that "the house of the rising sun" was on the jukebox when i got there, was there when i left in '68,and was still there when i came back to visit in '72.always seemed to be playing.was probably still on when they took the old canteen down.one of the all time great versions of that song.can still hear it in my head, when i think about it.
