Alright, I don't usually post on Tigernet about things on Twitter...but seeking your help! We are assembling a "history" of old Clemson stadium cups. I wanted to draw your attention to the thread if you do twitter so you can add some of your cups to the thread.
If you don't do twitter, post them here.
I'm saving all of the photos and will do something with it. Not sure what yet. But I have a bunch submitted on Twitter and I'll organize them and repost in some format. Next month...maybe we will do this for old football programs.

I have an old one that says "CLEMSON UNIVERSITY CENTENNIAL 1889-1989, and has Frank Howard's picture on the other side with some of his history printed on it. I'll see if I can figure out how to post pics of it.

My family has had season tickets all of my life and my first memories of games were from the early 70s. (I was born in '67). As I recall, the cup on the bottom left is the first stadium cup and I think that was when they started using plastic cups, so that would make it the first. The one on the bottom right came shortly thereafter and the one on top came next.
When we were kids we used to go around and collect them after the games. I remember the smell of liqueur in the student section.
I kept those three cups because the truly take me back to some good times of my childhood.

Same here. They used to make a different cup for each opponent back in the day too. In had a bunch of them at one point. We used to collect them
After the games too.

I remember those "fat" plastic cups from the 70's. Great memories. Us kids would ramble through the stands post-game and gather as many as we could find. Huge stacks of them, we had competitions on who could find the most.
I have some pretty old ones myself that I'll post if I can get motivated to dig them out today.

This "set" was sold at the Clemson Canteen in the Loggia (I think that's the only place) back in 1982 celebrating the '81 National Championship. I suppose you pretty much had to be a student then to have these. We had to go back many times to try and get all 6 of them, as they released them gradually. Glad I held on to them and never used them, been stored for posterity.
The Gamecock one is an all-timer.

you can't use the Purple Heart medal in a commercial design. Clemson found out after shirts (and cups) were printed. Don't you remember that they had to scramble "re-do" a bunch of the shirts with a big tiger paw covering the Purple Heart medal at the 11th hour to continue selling them. Many already sold before though.
I found an example with a websearch below .....
All full-time Clemson students attending the game will receive a free Purple Out T-shirt, but it won’t include a Purple Heart symbol as originally planned. That design, chosen from more than 30 student submissions in a campuswide contest, didn’t meet licensing guidelines of the U.S. Army. Proceeds from sales of the redesigned shirt will still benefit campus ROTC units and the Student Veterans Association.

I would have saved many from mid 70's but the bourbon (most likely Ole Grand Dad) that I poured on top of the coke was too strong and ate through the bottom of the cup.

We don't have any cups, but my husband (class of '64) bought me a shirt commemorating the 1981 National Championship and I had the image on it framed for him.
