The real tragedy in the Manziel/NCAA mess is not...

Aug 7, 2013, 9:55 AM

...that Manziel may or may not have taken money for autographs or that the NCAA rule may or may not take advantage of the student athlete. No. The real tragedy is grown 20, 30, 40, even 50 year-old men are buying and WEARING jerseys of 18, 19, 20, 21 year-old college students.

Agree. Only time I've worn a jersey in the last 23 years is when I lost a bet.

better (and he should have) but where was the adult guidance?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I disagree. If he got paid, he cheated. He knows this.

Aug 7, 2013, 10:44 AM

Amateur golfer accepts cash, he is a Pro. Immediately. No scholarship, no more amateur events. He/she is done.

Whether or not anyone buys a jersey or likeness of a player has nothing to do with that player cheating.

No, I dont have a jersey. But I also will not place blame on someone who cheats on other people.

Since you put it like that, I am really glad i dont have one

TU sir

Maybe kicking Rodriguez out of baseball will help clean that up. Might just help college football to deny Johnny Budweiser his amateur status and send him to the CFL!

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I disagree.

I am on this site everyday reading any little scoop I can about Clemson football. I am a fan. Why? Who in the hell knows why but it makes me happy so I am not going to apologize.

So, a TAM fans want to wear a signed jersey of their favorite team's Heisman trophy winner and you call them out for it? I am sorry but that sounds a little hypocritical to me.

JM sounds a little like a immature, punk kid to me. I hope he grows out of it like I did.

How is that hypocritical?

Aug 7, 2013, 10:54 AM

I'm making commentary on all grown men who wear jerseys of college kids. I'm on this site daily to discuss Clemson football. I have my favorite players but I refuse to idolize them by wearing their jerseys. I just think it's ridiculous is all.

I agree that Manziel is a spoiled rich kid out for himself.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your choice. Why are you disparaging others' choices? I

Aug 7, 2013, 11:06 AM

don't wear player jerseys but I almost always wear a Clemson hat. I don't see a big difference.

You wear a Clemson hat...Not a Boyd or Watkins hat.

Aug 7, 2013, 11:33 AM

Big difference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My choice, just the same. Nobody decides but me.***

Absolutely, right.

Aug 7, 2013, 12:20 PM

Your choice to idolize an 18 year old, and then wonder why Johnny Manziel happens.

You just made his entire point.

"MAY" is the limiting factor. Idolizing is the extreme.***

awesome Clemson man cave full of Tiger memorabilia. If Tajh wins the Heisman this year, don't you think a signed, framed Tajh Boyd jersey would make a nice addition to the wall?
