Huh. CWS Announcers suddenly sound relieved and upbeat

Jun 22, 2021, 10:03 PM

They were acting depressed until a few minutes ago.

What could cause such a change of tone by impartial commentators?

Of course, but uva has only themselves to blame. They left a lot of runs on the bases. 2 sac flies at a minimum.

That bunt with runners on 1st and 3rd killed them. The small ball early was wonderful but just went to that well too many times.

Oh, without a doubt, UVA is unraveling

My comment was solely about the announcers' demeanor.

I have not been impressed with some of the home plate umpires. High and outside seems to be a strike now.

go Arkansas
go Tennessee
Hail State! Their gritty sec season has prepared them with the perseverance to get ump-aided six runs in a late inning to barely beat a 36-26 ACC team.

Do you think the umps helped State?

Jun 23, 2021, 7:21 AM

It did look that way.

Very questionable and it was odd how that inning transpired

UVA - “it looks like duck, it walks like a duck, it quacks like a duck.”

NCAA - “Yes Sir, it’s an aardvark.”

Nah

What call was so bad? Balls and Strikes are missed the whole game. If that's what you're referring to you don't know baseball. The announcers getting excited could have been the fact Miss State finally started scoring some runs. Who sounds like the conference homer here? The one saying it was an exciting inning or the one claiming bad calls are what caused HRs to be hit? haha

It worked more like this...

Jun 23, 2021, 2:19 PM

The home plate ump tightened the strike zone in the top of the 8th. Even the announcers commented on that.

A tighter strike zone led to walking batters.

Walking batters led to the pitcher trying to aim his pitches.

Careful, aimed pitches are far more likely to sail across the outfield fence than a ball thrown loosely with movement in hopes of catching just enough plate that the batter is enticed to swing and miss.

I think that is logic and the laws of physics rather than homerism but, as you suggest, I may just not know baseball.

They have no shame. Freaking LSU and Arkansas fans are pulling for miss state. Probably even ole miss
