Was in the senate before that.
What is stopping her from eliminating taxes on tips now?
Why didn't she do something about it?
It's hilarious. No original ideas

They spent 3.5 years arming IRS agents and training them to crack down on waiters…
Sort of like how we're now supposed to trust her to fix the border

Without telling me you know nothing about firearms.
AR-15 is one round fired per one trigger pull. They are semi-automatic.
Fully automatic firearms still exist, but they are heavily regulated and expensive to obtain. They also haven't made any new ones in decades with a very small amount of exceptions.

They make plenty for the military. I think you mean there haven't been new licensed ones that civilians can own. You can buy a machine gun from a private citizen after ATF approval, but the price goes way up every year because of the fixed quantity. There are a lot of MAGA morons who will pay a year's salary just to own a machine gun. They spend so much to own a full auto, they don't have enough money left over to pay the medical bills after beating their wives.

Brilliant idea. If every low income earner can’t be provided with a means of improving their job related income, then President CAC says no one should get the benefit.
Democrat party: Equal hate for all lower middle class workers.
(*). Nothing stupid about Trump’s recommendation for a ‘no tax in tips’ policy. It just shows how far, and how fast, the Democrats have abandoned lower middle class people in exchange for being shills for high paid government employees, university professors, and crony capital industrialists.

I should have read these “sources” first. Very misleading, but par for the course. Right wing media believes its consumers are all morons. Counts on it, even.

Let's pretend that number is accurate (I found .5% for 2022, but they have 3 years to audit.) Do you think all audits are random? Most are kicked off by a number of red flags like math errors, excessive deductions, or EITC. After that, most audits are of earners over $500k. So let's pretend for a second that your hypothetical french waiter is claiming EITC or is selected randomly...what changes? What does this unlucky person have to provide the IRS that they did not previously?

For many, many years, restaurants and bars have reported tips in sufficient quantity to avoid audits of their employees. If the server/bartender makes less than minimum wage after tips, the employer has to make up the difference; thus the W-2 always reflects at least minimum wage. For traceable tabs (like with a credit card or cash at an honest establishment), there's an assumption of 15% tips for the server/bartender. With credit cards, it's all captured; with cash, it's not. So you see, there isn't much to audit for tip income. The traceable tips are already taxed. The untraceable cash tips are either reported by the taxpayer or not. But there isn't anything to really audit, unless they live far beyond their means (strippers are the only ones I can think of that fall in this category, but the smart ones use cash to buy everything).

The other half of this is that very few people use cash in restaurants and bars anymore. I was one of the last. All the tips on a credit card are reported by the employer. The main cash tips remaining are to delivery drivers (and that's rapidly changing) and cab drivers (for whoever uses them instead of Uber).

In addition to our different political preferences, your ‘pretty much done with cash tips’ account for you and those people you know reveal the differences in your social set vs mine.
My friends and I nearly always pay for the meal only via credit card and the tips only via cash. We know that the server has some excuse for not having detailed personal accounting records for tip income.
(I don’t use the ‘cash tips’ thing when expensing a work related meal because company rules don’t allow for this.)
After all, if the ‘my family has always had a cash heavy personal transactions’ way of life is cool for big shots such as Fulton County, GA’s District Attorney Fani Willis, then it is perfectly OK for lower middle income wage earners.
As for the popularity of Trump’s ‘no tax on tips’ policy proposal, of course this will be popular for ‘tip earners.’ Just because they get away for (historically) with under-reporting cash tips for the most part, Kamala’s deciding vote in the senate to get strict on reporting of tip income is a kind of Sword of Damocles threat. The dramatic increase of IRS auditors makes that sword sharper.
Good for Trump to think of the ‘no tax on tips’ policy. This is an example where a thoughtful and sympathetic president does not require handlers to do his thinking for him.

I think you missed the point. With cash tips there’s nothing to audit because there’s no record. There’s an assumption the tips were 15%, but they typically tip out to busboy, bar back, bartender, and need a higher tip to actually take 15% home. But 15% is the safe harbor amount most employers add to the W-2. If your cash tip is higher than 20% or so, they can actually under report.
The cash tips that you and your friends pay strippers are an exception. Those rarely get reported.

Not sure why we would exempt some people’s income from being taxed but not others. I’d like an exemption too while we’re at it.

- - - except for the pre-Biden-won’t-be-seeking-re-election statements that he (Biden) has had Kamala’s intimate involvement with all important policy decisions during the Biden administration.
Kamala confirmed those ‘Kamala has been involved the whole time’ statements.
Should we take Kamala at her word (I.e., she’s been intimately involved with all WH decisions over the previous 3.5 years) or we conclude that Kamala is a serial liar who can’t be trusted?
It’s one or the other.
You pick.
