Joe21

Nov 3, 2021, 9:47 PM

I am not a regular poster on Tnet and regret the circumstances for this post but unfortunately I am posting to let you know that Joe21 passed away this afternoon. As most of you know he was just a few weeks away from turning 100. I am fortunate to call him a friend and mentor for many years. I had the pleasure of visiting with him this past Sunday afternoon and we covered the bases of all things important to him, Faith, Family , Friends and Clemson Football. He was blessed with excellent health and a sharp mind right up to the end and he used both to his advantage to bring joy to others. Rest In Peace Joe21!

Nov 3, 2021, 10:39 PM [ in reply to Joe21's Last Post ]

As always, Joes last post made us all stop and think about and appreciate the simple pleasures in our lives. Joe was a bright light that shined on us all. He always seemed to know just the right words to post, a wonderful story or experience to share that made my day.
He was one of those rare people in this world who made everyone of us better for having known even if it was only on this board. If I may, could I suggest in the days ahead, to honor Joe, all of us do something nice for someone else.

No doubt we all know @joe21 is at the top of mountain now and has been for awhile. Shed more than one tear with his last few posts... But especially this one. Was so looking to honor him on his 100th.

Perhaps a fitting tribute, Tnet staff can run a story on the man and the legendary joe21. All I got is a prayer and tears for he and his extended family.

I used to post on cutigers.com back when Roy ran it and have never posted on here. I've followed the boards for a long time though and have always enjoyed Joe's posts. I've always been amazed at how sharp he was given his age and was devastated to hear he was ill. Now, to hear that he has passed, my heart breaks.

Joe was more than just a Clemson man. He was a man that all other men could admire and learn from. I will miss his stories. I will miss his perspective. I will regret that I never met him in person. But, more importantly, I will pray for those that knew him in this life personally and now have to deal with a greater loss than I can relate to in this situation.

God bless all of Joe's friends and family. May God bless Joe and welcome him into His kingdom.

I had the honor of meeting Joe in 1982 when he worked at the old cotton fiber testing facility out beyond the YMCA in Clemson. He was a warm, friendly guy then and that personality showed in his wonderful stories and posts on TigerNet. He will be missed. One of my favorite Joe21 posts was from last December. I hope he doesn't mind me reposting it.

Most people don't think I'm as old as I am until they hear me stand up.

As I watch this generation try to rewrite history, one thing I'm sure of, it will be misspelled and have no punctuation.

Getting older is just one body part after another saying, "Ha ha. You think that's bad? Watch this".

So sad. He will be missed. Did he finish his book? Tigernet should have a board just for all the threads Joe21 started. His perspective on all things could be a help to someone in need.

I hate to hear that, but I am sure Joe is in a better place and had no fear of passing. For all of us and his family, it is a huge loss and my prayers go out to all of his friends and family. What a wonderful human being Joe 21 was. Joe, celebrate your birthday in a place in which we can only imagine!

Whenever I saw one of his posts, I always made sure I read it. Wonderful storyteller and an outlook on life that needs to be emulated by all!

Loved his stories here. He was a good man and will be missed.

Do you know if he came close to completing his book? I do hope that it is carried across the finish line somehow!

So terribly sorry to hear this. I only knew Joe here on T-Net, and through here I knew that he was a true Tiger, and this news actually breaks my heart. Prayers for all of Joe's family, bc I don't believe that Joe needs my prayers bc he is now in Heaven with our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Heaven is the place where most of our prayer are asking to go, and Joe has beat us there, where he will be waiting to meet all Tigers, and Tiger fans. One day I will take the journey into the after life, and I will know that I have been truly blessed if I meet Joe, bc I will know that I am in Heaven... RIP Joe, and I pray that we meet when my life ends here on earth.

God never made us promises of how long we have here on earth, but he did promise us eternity in Heaven if we believe Jesus was our Lord and Savior, and that we serve Jesus here on earth Amen....

Love the time he invested to tell his great stories and life experiences. I had noticed his posts were on the decline over the last couple months and I made a post asking how he was doing. He replied and said he had been feeling a little under the weather for few wks.

I sure hope his family takes the time to compile his shorts stories into a book. I know Joe had mentioned he hoped to get that accomplished, I just wonder if his family knows he had wanted to complete that project.

Honored to have interacted with such a great Clemson man. Prayers for family.

In my time on Tigernet, I can’t recall anyone whose poasts were generally accepted by all like those of Joe21. I think the response to his passing is likely to set TU records. Perhaps the board masters will run a front page coverage of his service or memorial to the man’s legacy. Go Tigers. Rest In Peace Joe.

Will Vandervort interviewed Mr Joe back in 2019. You get a chance to hear about his family and the many years living in Clemson. He posted an updated version today in remembrance of Joe.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Man...sad news.

So sorry to hear this news, my heart is heavy but I know that he is now in a better place. I lost my father, class of ‘60, six weeks ago. I know he and Dad will be sharing both Clemson and army stories soon. It was always a highlight of my day to see a post from Mr. Joe, I shared many of them with my family. Rest In Peace Mr. Joe, you will never be forgotten!

It's not often one gets to interact with a legend. Joe21 was a tnet legend. All who knew him were lucky and blessed. I only knew him by his words on tnet, but in some ways I knew him in that way better than people I see and talk to every day.

Rest in peace Joe21 and prayers for his family.
