Oh my lord

Nov 17, 2021, 7:44 PM

Suck it up, Clemson football isn’t going anywhere. Everyone acts like the sky is absolutely falling due to a down year in which if DJ just plays average we are undefeated. Yes we are injured but the guys on the field who actually put in work aren’t giving up so the least the fans can do who don’t put in any work can at least support them. We lost some recruits it’s not the end of the world, we won nattys with less five stars then we have now.

I think your last sentence is what seems to be the issue

Nov 17, 2021, 7:45 PM

for most people. We have tons of talent on paper.

And that’s doesn’t always translate on the field, maybe it’s time to go back to recruiting the hardest workers and not the shiny stars. If we can win with less we can find a way back.

I think our class ratings are too high

Nov 17, 2021, 9:04 PM

IMO- our star ratings are now influenced by our success. Where a guy we are interested in - gets a bump when we offer or he accepts. This possibly over ranking him. Same goes for some of the ones to others in the top 5, aka, Bama, Ohio state, ok. Bama does not miss on much. Clemson has missed or overrated some recently.
IMO the difference between a 5 star and a 4 is readiness to contribute. We may have some 5s that are talented by need a season or two to be really ready. But we assume they are ready due to the 5th star.
Clearly, we also have a pro gap. Where Bama has multiple 1st rounders every year, this year - we may have 1 and not in the top half. Yet, the past few years - we have been ranked very high in recruiting - so you would think we should be close to Bama on pros.

Right there with you mj, but we are vastly outnumbered here. Seems optimism has become a bad word.

It just blows my mind, I wouldn’t even follow a team if all I had was contempt and negativity 24/7 about it.

Yep. Hope is a wonderful thing. I hope I never lose mine. I just keep inviting these downers to hit the fan transfer portal and head off to Clucklumbia or Raleigh where they will fit in.

Rhett & MJ

Nov 17, 2021, 8:32 PM

To go to the college playoffs, it takes both. 99% commitment and superstars. DW4, TL16, IS11, and the Power Rangers won the 2016 & 2018 national championships with supporting casts due to their talent, leadership and work ethics.

Talent is a pre-requisite to get in the door. The rah-rah B.S. from coaches and fans means little without a Top 10 NFL draft pick QB and some All-American leaders. This does not mean we can't pull for the team on the field - it means the team on the field can't successfully compete with the best of the best. So we take a one year break and come back strong in 2022.

I think it’s more shock than pure negativity….

Nov 17, 2021, 8:18 PM

Sure it’s showing up a lot as negativity.

I think the “outrage” is more from shock than anything else… The gap between expectations and reality is stark.

We’ve been in a 4 team playoff for 6 years in a row. Anyone who expects that to never end has lost touch with reality. Team still has an opportunity to have another 10 win season and continue that streak. That’s reality. Giving up on beating WF and SC before the games even happen isn’t reality either. At least not yet. At least not for me.

Exactly Saturday is a HUGE game for the future of the team, that’s why me and my family will be there loud and proud. We need fans to show u and show out. We don’t win the BC game without the crowd we had that night it was amazing and we need that same energy this weekend. At the end of the day we are CLEMSON

We’ve become spoiled. We just need to buckle it up and work even harder with the prize still the objective. Dabo and assistants still know how to coach, and our players haven’t forgotten how it feels to win, nor how bad it feels to lose. We will cross this bump in the road. I ain’t quitting!

Things happen, like I said early if we just get average play from DJ it’s a totally different story. I choose to look at the bright sides especially being through worse seasons as a fan, but the defense has looked great, young guys are getting great experience, and no matter what this team doesn’t quit. Once they get this ship rolling it’s going to be a hard one to stop due to these young guys being 100% battle tested opponents won’t be able to break them. This is going to be not only a physically tough team, but one of the strongest mentally in the country. I guarantee you the players and coaches are just as shocked and disgusted as “fans” they will get it right in the off season.

That is correct. I talk to them in the store here in Lexington all the time. They're not dumpers, they're loading up their wagons and going to every game... But there's concern. No one expects to win or play for a natty every year. Nor do they expect to make the 4 team playoff each year.

But there is, from what I hear, a general concern that we've slipped down the mountain. And it doesn't have anything to do with this season alone. Most of which has been discussed on Tnet by reasonable, respected posters.

I hear you, and I try to be a reasonable and respectful poster. But I just am not ready to agree that we have slipped down the mountain. At least not yet.

We've fallen off a cliff offensively. You can't really

Nov 17, 2021, 9:15 PM

argue that point. It's one thing to take a step back after losing Trevor and Travis. It's another to be one of the worst offenses in the country.

I think that's a legit concern.

Reality doesnt care how optimistic you are "Excellence is the standard" has gone since first LSU then O State kicked our butts while Dabo shucked and jived and told us what great practices we had we have one of the bottom offenses in FBS Pointing out the truth doesnt make you any less a fan and with what these guys get paid excuses just dont cut it

We need to get behind this every second on Saturday and cheer them on line we have never cheered before…we need to start a frenzy to where the players feed off of us and beat the deals so bad on the scoreboard and physically that they can’t even field a decent lineup vs BC much less want to play another physical team…it hasn’t been the year we wanted…we aren’t as good as we have been but the talent of the fans has not changed…we can still be the best we be And try to help in the only way that we can make a difference!!! Go Tigers!!!
