So TD me, but I'm proud of this team

Oct 4, 2021, 8:58 AM

They've faced probably more adversity this season than probably any of the last several teams combined. We're loaded with youth, riddled with injuries, and have basically a completely new offense that, for the first time, is not led by one of these "generational" quarterbacks. DJ certainly has time and the ability to become elite, but at this point, he's still very much learning. But he's not quitting. The O-line isn't quitting. The WRs aren't quitting. RBs aren't quitting. Coaches aren't quitting. Defense sure isn't quitting. It's pretty much just the "fans" and the media that are quitting on Clemson. I can live with that, as long as the team doesn't start buying into all the crap.

We've been spoiled, and that's been a good thing! We've had talent following talent following talent, but perhaps more importantly, we've had leadership following leadership. I think that's what we're really missing right now on offense is strong, confident leadership. And that will come with time and experience.

So the media can count us out. Fans can count us out. I can live with all that, as long as our team keeps fighting. We still have essentially the same people that brought us two national championships and 6 consecutive ACC championships. The difference is we don't have the same teams as all those years. Just as the fans have been spoiled, the coaches have been spoiled with some of the incredible talent we've had - and not just talent on the field, but leadership on and off the field.

Saturday I saw some good progress. There's still a lot of work to be done, but I'm 100% confident that everyone - coaches and players - will be putting in that work, and quite possibly more work than they've ever put in before. You think you like to lose while you're sitting on the couch or in the stands? I'm pretty sure it hurts more when you're out on the field, putting in the work every day and not seeing the results you're capable of getting. As furiously as you're typing, they're working harder. So TD me all you want. I'm proud of this team. GO TIGERS!

As long as the players are giving it everything they've got, I will be proud of them. There is absolutely no lack of effort. This buy week is coming at a great time for Clemson. We need to heal up and improve on offense.
Go Tigers!!!

Very intelligent and mature post. All of the pre-season hype was just a waste of print because there has never been a game won before it was played. We are in a rebuilding year and I just hope Dabo says that especially in light of our injuries and inexperience.

and honestly.. i think if DJ will have that one game where

he gets dialed in..then we'll be off and running. Notre Dame last year we saw nothing of what we've seen this year. He's got it in him. He's just gotta get out of this muck he's in. Once he does he'll be on his way to putting up big numbers.

I say Amen !!!! There wasn't a Tiger player out there the other night that was not giving it their all on behalf of their teammates and what Clemson stands for. The effort was amazing. People can complain all they want but the fact is that this team has heart and they will work to improve. The current woe-is -me crowd was obviously not around in the last years of Howard, or Hootie or Red when us fans loved our team win or lose. This team may lose a few games along the way this year, that's football. But the effort will not be lacking and the very strong foundation that Dabo has in place is not going anywhere. The pundits and fans who write the Tigers off will be sadly mistaken !!!!!
