Observations . . .

Apr 12, 2014, 5:35 PM

The touch-sack rule changes everything and makes it difficult, if not impossible to evaluate the QBs. There were more than a few plays that went down as sacks that would have been big gainers or possible pass completions.

Stoudt is clearly the guy to beat at QB, but a couple of times Kelly's escapes and runs, which were actually good plays on his part, went down as sacks as mentioned above. Still Stoudt looks to be in control and making better decisions. Schussler looks to be more than capable should he ever be called to duty, and with Watson waiting, we are in good shape at QB.

All RBs have had good moments. Gallman and Davidson look to have an edge to me, and with Dye healing up and Choice coming in, we are once again in good shape here.

From a purely physical standpoint, our D-Line is once again superior to our O-line. They simply overpowered them on the safety, and pass protection and run blocking not great. Defense has an advantage in these situations though.

Hard to tell a lot from spring games, but it's good to get a look anyway and see some football.

I think Howard has looked tough as a runner today. He will get more chances I think. Hard to make a judgement based on a half of football, but based on what we have seen, there would be absolutely no question of who would start against UGA and perhaps for the first month or so at least.

Just wish he didn't run like a grandma

He's got that goofy ### hunched over run still. Hope the best for him, but gah I hate that granny run.
