Notre Dame is not joining the ACC, not now, not ever.

If they didn’t join last year, when their backs were against the wall, why would they join now? The ACC and Swofford were absolute morons to allow them to play and not hold their feet to the fire last season.
They are Notre Dame, they’re able to use their name and get just as much money as conference teams, if not more, and be able to do whatever they want and play whomever they want.
The new commissioner, Phillips, will continue to bend over just like Swofford did. He’s from the Midwest, and his kid goes to Notre Dame for crying out loud. He’s not going to do anything to rock the boat and #### them off. The ACC will continue to look stupid as far as ND is concerned.
If we’d held their feet to the fire last year, the ACC would not be scrambling now. Stupid.

In fact, they may not have had a season at all.
It gets a bit much seeing them continue to have their cake and eat it too.
It’s fun, however, kicking their leprechaun butts on the field time and again as payment for letting them have a free ride in the ACC.
Seeing their students rush the field in total ecstasy after pulling out that narrow win against our second team spoke volumes about where their program in the present day.
Their football program is not worthy of the deference our conference leadership has afforded them.

Whatever the 'title de jour' that carries the day. They. Have. No. Choice. If they don't, what remains of 'Power Programs' won't schedule them. What will their mantra be then...'We're the best of the Rest'? That's compelling.

Notre Dame is already in the ACC

in every sport except football (independent) and hockey (Big East).
They have a long term contract with the ACC. Many of their fans want them to join the ACC in football. They realize that realignment will kill the independents. The Big 10 is out due to the traditional anti-Catbolic bias from Michigan. It makes more sense for them to join the ACC rather than any other option.
A bigger challenge would be to add another school to add a 16th member.
WVa makes sense regionally, but doesn't add a significant TV market, doesn't improve academics, and is basically West Pittsburgh.
Penn State is a more difficult get but is the other vest choice along with ND. Academics, brand, huge TV markets, traditional power.
If not those, were looking at either G5 schools like Cincinnati and/or Memphis, or out of region Big 12 leftovers line Oklahoma State, Baylor, etc.
I say make ND and Penn State offers they can't refuse.

ACC leadership has been too reactive.

The ACC definitely wasted a golden opportunity last year, but the BCS might give us another one. If the proposal to go to 12 teams with the top 4 conference champions getting byes, the Irish might be asking to join on their own. ND could be a unanimous #1 and have to play in the first round. Phillips and the ACC should be lobbying hard to keep that rule in place. If they change it to allow others in the top 4, then the SEC will take over and you are right that the ACC will not get ND.
