Notre Dame in the ACC

Apr 18, 2013, 12:37 PM

I still think that it would improve the perception of ACC football if we realigned the divisions as follows:

Coastal:
CU, FSU, GT, UNC, NCST, WF, Duke, UVA, Miami

Atlantic:
Notre Dame, Pitt, BC, L-ville, Syracuse, VAtech

Coastal plays 8 divisional games.
Atlantic plays 5 divisional games.

The team with the best divisional record wins the division.

All teams (except ND) will still play 8 or 9 games rotated and predetermined by the ACC/TV contracts.

No offense or anything

But that plan doesn't make any sense.

Once ND comes into the ACC football schedule

Apr 18, 2013, 12:50 PM

There will be 5 schools per season that have to play an extra game predetermined and rotated by the ACC.

Clemson will play 9 games predetermined by the ACC in 2015 while some of the other schools only play 8 games.

This makes sense to most people. They are excited about this.

Pretty sure ND won't count as a conference game. So we'll

play 8 ACC games a year, plus ND every 3 years.

The ND game has no affect on the standings, but ND on our 2015 schedule is the biggest news of the week on the front page of TigerNet.

probably play them 4 out of every 5 years in the ACC-CG (Assuming CU continues to dominate FSU)

through 2025 so unless the BCS implements some added measures that make it more difficult for the independents to qualify for the play-offs, or if conferences continue to expand making scheduling more difficult for Notre Dame, the bee bee heads will likely remain independent in football at least for the forseeable future.
