At some point in a relationship with a college football coach, the athletic director is asked to evaluate the program for upward mobility. All of the money that is lost in a buy out is lost the day that the coach signs the contract, not the day that you fire the coach.

FSU realized they were losing real revenue every day Willie remained as coach. The gamecocks are content to be Alabama’s little brother/weak cousin. As long as South Carolina plays the role of a conference football doormat, that SEC Check will keep coming in
