Without national interest an SEC only playoff revenue drops like a rock. If they want to play 2-3 playoff games before the CFB playoff they will get beat by attrition before they show up.

Now, I do think dynamic conference scheduling (I.e. a playoff) to produce champions would be interesting.

So you have a regular conference season followed up by an 8 team conference playoff? What would having an 8 team SEC playoff prove other than fulfilling a bunch of SEC/Finebaum wet dreams? Not like anyone would recognize them as a national champion.

...Sankey knows good and well that the SEC can't hold their own "faux championship" without the Big10 or ACC or even the Pac12 agreeing. That would not happen. It seems that they may have become a little too big for their britches to even consider such a thing. Before the pride comes the fall.

My opinion is the SEC is trying to force the changes in the NCAA or they will run their own playoff & take the money from it for themselves & they can add other conferences if they pay $ to be a part of the system.
It will separate the bug boy conferences/teams from the have nots or they will just run their own show so the rules can be changed for the schools via recruiting, NIL and transfers.

I believe this puts a lot of pressure on the NCAA with the TV contracts and etc coming up. Look for others to get a piece of the ESPN pie in the bidding war. Our TV set-up with ESPN ties the ACC to them though.

The other option is the SEC could become a mega conference taking the best schools to create their own SEC National Championship.

If this happens we will be forced to join and dominate the conference from this day forward! ????????
