I’m going to assume they gambled. Wanted to save that arm for tomorrow. They probably hoped they could win with their hitting and hoped their other pitchers could keep us at bay. Obviously after going down 4-0 they had no choice.

I respect him trying to set his team up to win a championship, Bakich is doing the same. But given that they are on the bubble for hosting, would have thought he would have prioritized this game above potential games tomorrow and Sunday.

But heck, maybe the plan was to let the first guy go a few innings and bring West in regardless of the situation as the multi inning “closer”.
