NIL and boosters ...what’s to stop top booster from

Jul 6, 2021, 4:54 PM

from telling top prospect to expect an avalanche of purchases of NIL merchandise once top player signs wit boosters school?

I think they instituted this NIL stuff in part because it allows for the incessant cheating to continue under the guise of “player empowerment.” They don’t want to address what’s really going on, so what they’ve done in effect is give all programs legal avenues to now pay players. It kind of evens the playing field to some degree, but make no mistake, programs like UGA will continue pumping truck loads of money into swaying prospects and their families.

And how many National Championships has UGA been able to buy in the last 40 years ?

True, I’m just pointing out that they’re the closest thing to Ole Miss since Ole Miss in terms of just how egregious it is.

I’m seriously just hoping to squeeze one more year out of loving college football.

Yep, everything sports related is almost dead to me. Get a year or two out of Clemson before thats broke and I guess I'll need to learn to read again. Any good book ideas?

Going to see how it plays out. I’m down to 4-5 sports now. Left MLB in 95, NBA just after, and NFL in 2008. If I have to flush, I’ll flush. Got two great kids who love to hunt and fish. Much better use of time.

PS. My son (rising HS senior) and most of his friends don’t watch any sports. There may be a reckoning coming….

Amateurism died when they started doling out 8 figure contracts to coaches and spending $100M+ on practice facilities.
