over 50 years. Breaking down film and taking extensive notes has been an exhaustive process, but I can now say with certainty that the 2013 Ohio State team was their best since 1968. And remember, the 2013 OSU team lost to Clemson in the 2014 Orange Bowl. Since then, Clemson has improved dramatically, while OSU has regressed in many areas. With that said, barring any unforeseen circumstances (which I have been able to mathematically reduce to < 0.01%) Clemson should win this game with ease. And this is not homerism, it’s mathematics, hard data, and experience.
PS: It appears Vegas agrees.
My prediction:
Clemson 42
Ohio State: 17*
* (7 of which come late in the 4th against our reserves)

I wish you were right.
I don't think we can adequately compare that team to this year's team. Ohio State DOMINATED every team they played this year (including ALL the highly ranked, respected opponents). Wisconsin had some recovery time to compare from their embarrassment, so Ohio State dominated only the 2nd half of that play-off.
I appreciate your research, but there are intangible factors and some data that this research doesn't touch.
Look at the scores and the level of opponent.
Look at their own motivation (they have appeared to earn the #1 seed in the CFB Playoffs and got ROBBED simply because ESPN seems to worship the SEC and that a highly-ranked team they obliterated the first time was better-prepared and possibly even more motivated to beat them in their conference play-off.
Also, they've never beaten us. There is certainly motivation there.
I HOPE that, after the game, you can use my handle (the catch2) and say "I told you so."
And thanks for the positive! I've been all negative so I needed some positive.

You say you went back 50 years; then make a declaration concerning the 1968 team. How can we trust the rest of your calculations if you can’t even subtract 1968 from 2019 and get the right answer?

the likes of which the sporting world has never seen? In addition to that, he is a great all around human being who loves animals and small children. And Justin Fields and JK Dobbins are clearly better than our lowly QB and RB (as evidenced by the media narrative and the Heisman voting). I don't see how we stand a chance against the likes of real college football blue bloods like Ohio State.  ">

But to add to an observance of many years, I have noticed and thoroughly agree with the idea the AP voters give the traditionally larger schools a higher rank in the polls. The bottom line is simply money. There's more of 'em. More fans following the polls, the more ads are seen...
Let's go to extremes to understand the point. Let's say "Medfield College" is in the polls/playoffs/CFB Championship game. How many alum would they have vs a Notre Dame/USC/OSU/Michigan/Texas/PSU? 37 vs 2 millionish?
So, who is more profitable to place higher in the polls? Penn State? Wisconsin? Michigan? <~~OSU opponents, each one. Do any of you genuinely think Michigan is any better than Wake? I don't.
I remember we beat Georgia with a last second field goal, Danny spitting chaw across the field while squatting down during the play. We won. Yet we got dropped in the poll. We were "lucky." Others who did the same were championship caliber teams who just do that when they need to......(mark me down as rolling my eyes here)
Folks talk about the Esh-EE-SHE bias, which is real. But there's also a money bias. When you hear a "big fan base" school is ranked at so and so, raise an eyebrow and question mark. "Really?"
Something to consider as we look forward to kick off.
(On a complete side note as I mentioned fan bases, my wife and I were entering the National Art Gallery in Trafalgar Square years ago when I saw an orange and white mesh-back ballcamp on a laddie leaving the gallery. No big deal. Clemson is everywhere. Nothing unusual. Wait! We're in London, this isn't the norm in the UK! His cousin went to Clemson... Clemson is getting a larger fan base!)

Good analysis, however I am disappointed you did not consider their 1890 game vs Ohio Wesleyan. Their 20-14 win would have added weight to you analysis. I hope I don't sound like I'm nitpicking, but I am nitpicking. Just something to keep in mind next time.
