Is the student IPTAY Collegiate Club worth it?

My nephew will be a freshman at Clemson next year and I'm wondering if the IPTAY Collegiate Club does much to ensure a freshman can get football tickets to all the home games.

I assuming there is still a student football ticket lottery system and that some students still don't get tickets for all the home football games??

Anyone got the latest on how all this worked out this past year??

Signed both my girls up thinking it would help them in the ticketing system but it didn’t. They were Tiger Cubs since toddler age as well. As students they each got/get 3 or 4 tickets per season and half of those are hill. I still buy 4 season tickets so they can sit with me if they don’t get them. Just our experience but it didn’t help them at all with anything to do with tickets. They got t shirts. Which is nice.

If you attend the games you probably have observed the student section is almost bare after halftime. Apparently there is much to do on game day more important than supporting the football team. Certainly wasn’t like that in my day. No one left the games early and the Tigers were pitifully bad in my day. To many IPTAY isn’t worth anything. To many it is the backbone of the athletic department.

It’s what makes it so baffling. Let the kids who want to attend in the gates. I sit north upper so I’m facing an empty south upper (students) and over the top of a half full hill. I don’t see how it helps anything. But what do I know. When I was there we got into all the games and hill was packed (for much different football, 1989-1993). Go Tigers.

Same experience here as my daughter was a freshman this year. Joining does provide an opportunity to purchase a discounted season ticket for the student. We didn’t do that and she only got 4 or 5 tix through the lottery. Will likely buy the season ticket this year. I don’t recall details about the season ticket but assume it would be in student section.

To get all games you typically have to take matters into your home game. Freshman get one entry in system, seniors get four chances. The club just increases your one chance to a few more.
Most probably get like 3-4 games randomly and probably as freshmen will include the two non conference. The rest they buy from students or stubhub etc.
Best bet probably is to buy the student season tickets and find another student or few to go in with if they already know some. Otherwise go in the random draw and then fill in with secondary markets or others for those you do not get in Year one. Then in year two get student season tix.
Welcome to Clemson, it will be great and they will find a way to get in the games they want!

FYI: You could sign him up in the Alumni Association and he'll have a 4 year head start in giving to the university that will provide him many opportunities throughout life.
