bet your biggest pending commission,monthly paycheck,title on your truck,etc.,that the offense would win the game against Wake INSTEAD OF THE DEFENSE. (I realize in a way they both did...but you get my point.)

If it wasn’t for the holding they got away with, go back and watch the video. It would be incredible how much holding they got away with.
I’ve been watching/playing/coaching football since I was a 3-4 years old, I’ve never seen a game where one team held to the level Wake did yesterday & never got any calls.

for me, there was equal uncertainty going into the season on both sides of the ball. So much turnover, coaching AND playerwise, everywhere except defensive line.
I'll be honest and say I thought this year would have proceeded much like 2018 by now, and CK would be playing a major role, if not starting. I'll take a large side of crow with BBQ sauce and applaud DJ over that assumption!
I'll also say, just from a raw talent standpoint, I did not see us struggling as much as we have in the secondary. Injuries have literally bugged us again, but several of last years recruits, as well as this years newbies, were highly rated enough that I thought it could be "plug and play" much more so that it has turned out to be. Coach Reed has a lot of work to do in a short time, with the Nancy's coming to town this Satdiddy.

Not sure about betting but the offense was our more experienced unit going into the season and that was before injuries hit the defense.

They stacked the box after the first 50+ yard run. That allowed DJ to torch them for almost 400 yards through the air and 5 TDS. Now for the defense. Did you notice that a lot of sets we only had 3 down lineman and played the extra linebacker in coverage to try and help the rookie dbs. Late in the game we started to give them a little more running room concentrating on trying to shut down their long pass plays. It worked to some extent especially on the last play.
Lets celebrate the game, give Wake a lot of credit and get ready for the puppies!

No way I would have made that bet. I thought the defense would be more disruptive with pressure, and thought the defense would get a takeaway. On that note, what a play by Trenton Simpson to jar the ball loose that the defense was unable to get to before it went out of bounds.
I also thought the offense might have been able to run the ball more to keep the ball out of Wake's hands, and reduce exposure of the secondary.
