Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Thursday, up early to cook and finish cleaning. Nice time hosting my dad for Thanksgiving.
Friday, up early to go get the Blackberry Smoke record store day release. Side A skips badly, hoping for a resolution.
Saturday, up early to get some running around done before the games started. Parked on the couch at noon and only got up to go pick up the pizza for the night's game. Get back just in time for kickoff. What a nice relaxing game.
Sunday, slept late and did not much of anything.

Thurs - Went to step-bros house and ate both fried and grilled versions of delicious turkey. Dad and I rode down to the pond and caught 24 crappie and 4 bass.
Fri - Continued tradition of cutting down the Christmas tree. Realized the tree stand was broken and had to run to Lowe's for a "lifetime warrantry" tree stand. Got the house and decorated up.
Sat - launched the boat before sunrise and 28F. It warmed up nicely and the fishing was hot. We put 34 bass in the boat. I did lose a fishing rod, however. Watched them tigers.
Sun - church in the morning. Played outside with kids, did a lil scavenger hunt, zipline and ride-ons. Planning to hoist kayak in the garage ceiling and worked on that a lil bit. Sold my ACC tickets, but still need to sell my pass.

Long, interesting

Friday: Lazy day around the house because I knew the next two days were going to be crazy.
Saturday: All day Santa shopping. It was miserable. Got home and put Santa toys away and my neighbor came over bitching about my beagle barking all of the time. Got a little heated but I apologized for the inconvenience and said that I will handle it. He kept on going and going until I finally had to say "I have already said I will handle it, now leave."
Ordered the bark collar. Should come in today. I hate it. Asking a beagle not to bark is like asking a cat not to dig a hole to #### in. But oh well.
Sunday: Put up Christmas all day. Watched as the karens across the road went to my other neighbors to try to stir up ####.
Apparently they have done this to just about everybody in the neighborhood. One woman I work with lives a few streets down and they went after her because she has chickens in her backyard. No rooster or anything to make noise and she doesn't live anywhere near them even if she did. But they went after her because she has chickens.
I now have a rooster.

I don't understand why a rooster crow is objectionable
Nov 29, 2021, 8:43 AM
|
|
Note: the natural rooster crow, NOT the rooster crow inside Willie-Brice - THAT IS TRULY OBJECTIONABLE AND OBNOXIOUS.
I guess I grew up in the country hearing a rooster crow every day of my life. It is a calming, natural sound not much unlike other bird noises you hear in everyday life. Do they hate bobwhite calls, crow caws, dove coos, owl hoots, and sparrow chirps too? God, I love all those sounds.
I gotta wonder about people who b**ch about bird calls. Dogs, I get it, but birds? Get real. Pro tip - get a peacock. That'll really set them off.

Thanksgiving at Mama's house. Had fun, ate good. Friday, wife back to work, I was home with the kids. Hunted and piddled around outside. Saturday, went to the family's palatial estate in Colleton County. Did a lot of excavator work, repaired bridge, built boat ramp. Good time in the woods with daddy, my brother, my two kids, and his boy. Ate Popeyes and everybody had diarrhea in the woods. Came home, watched the awesome football game. Sunday, went to Church, did a crap ton of yard work, took the son to basketball practice.
Sore AF this morning. Great weekend.

Mostly did turkey stuff (including leftovers) and watched a ton of football. Made 5 cheesecakes on sattidy/sunday for gifts (and me!).
Lot of sadness in that my aunt passed due to heart failure, lost a husband of my 1st cousin and a close friend's mom since Tuesday (many of you know him if you dine in Clemson).
Always nice to remember that Happiness is a beaten Cooock.
10/10 without the passings (19/19 on the RH Covid scale).
Not sure how to rate with them.

Ups and Downs
Nov 29, 2021, 8:36 AM
|
|
Wednesday: Drove to High Point. Got there just in time to go pick up pizza for dinner. Went and had a few beers with my BIL while we waited. No idea how someone can be that grumpy all the time and still be happy in life.
Thursday: The burner for the turkey fryer wasn't working and my other BIL didn't even check it prior to the moment he needed it to work. Had smoked breast and ended up using the fire pit to fry to the other turkey. In laws are folks that do jello pretzel salad as a side, so theyre insane.
Friday: had a quick COVID scare. Woke up with a fever at 12:55am, then again at 3:50 in a pool of sweat. Red went and got a rapid test at Walgreens where there was a homeless man trying to steal some groceries. COVID negative so I pounded my system with DayQuil and advil. Brunch at my parents with my sister and her family. Theyre super right wing nut jobs so I had kids running around the house shouting "all lives matter" and explaining to me that they don't listen to Lil Nas X because hes gay AND black. Good people. Grabbed Taco Bell for dinner, like the slum lords we are. Went to bed during the third quarter of the State-UNC game. Sorry yall. I didn't want them to win, either.
Saturday: Drove home and ran around the house unpacking and tidying up. Went to the grocery store to procure Cold Mountain and wings to fry for the game. Put the wings in the air fryer and they turned out pretty great. Game was fun, yet boring at the same time. Did a blind bourbon sample a friend gave me. Completely ###### that up, but enjoyed the ride.
Sunday: We went and got our tree yesterday morning before the Chelsea match. Grabbed Taco Bell for lunch on the way home, like the slum lords we are. Chelsea drew one of the worst United teams to play in the modern era, so that sucked. Did yard work for a few hours. Started putting out Christmas decorations. Finished off the weekend with Lasagna, garlic bread, and wine.

I am a traditionalist when it comes to food on the table. Dessert is a different animal, and I concede that jello pretzel salad is appropriate for a dessert. Just dont wanna see that on a main course plate.

he was a Yorkie mix, we got him from a rescue, we were told he was two when we got him, we had him for nine years.

Was in Chattanooga from Thursday to Saturday afternoon. Was supposed to meet wife-of's sister's family, but they got sick, so we went just our family.
Had fun, had some good good, etc...
Got home around 4pm on Saturday...drive back was long - probably went through 5 different accident delays on the I-75/I-85.
Heated up some great left-overs, watched Michigan win and watched 'Bama come back and win.
Our game was glorious. Was nice to see our team out-physical them at every position group. When your team is down ~20 players and Drew Swinney is starting at WR and your rival is shut-out at home, it really doesn't get much better.
Sunday...Took son-of to Bojangles for free boberry biscuits...got the last batch. Watched a lot of NFL...Steelers sucked it up big-time...fantasy team sucked it up (need Lockett to go for 22 tonight to win)...did some chores around house...did some work work...talked smack to some gamecock friends on buddybook. Watched the late game...bed.

Thursday - Thanksgiving in Sparkle City. A lot of the extended family was there - good time.
Friday- headed back to QC and went for a nice long walk. Had some vino in the Jazz Room and listened to some tunes with the Queen.
Saturday- got the Christmas decorations from the attic and started decorating. Still working on that.
Sunday - a long walk through the woods on the Greenway. Worked with humidor a little - trying to get it back to 72. Mostly just chilled the rest of the day.
Great weather- Mostly cool and sunny.

Sure, years from now people may look back and think those were good wins, but real people look how the teams were, not just the laundry.
I actually think Clemson fans are a bit guilty of that as well, but in the other direction. We don't really think too highly of any ACC opponent so those losses are taken extra hard. Turns out State and Pitt had admirable seasons.

One of the distinct differences in our fanbases, IMO...
Nov 29, 2021, 9:16 AM
|
|
Is that we Clemson fans are hyper-critical. Any little setback, and we want heads to roll and the sky is falling. This season is good evidence.
#### fans are hyper-optimistic when one little thing goes right. They think they've turned a corner and are headed toward greatness.
I've been guilty of the former as a Clemson fan, but it sure is sweet to watch the latter come crashing down when reality sets in.

Off every day last but Wednesday, and still tired.
Nov 29, 2021, 8:58 AM
|

Thursday, the entire family drove to Hickory for Thanksgiving at RH Aunt's house. Great food, pretty relaxing day overall. Got home around 8, walked the pup, then collapsed into the Big Chair and tried to watch Cowboy Be Bop on Netflix...not great but not horrible, just sort of meh. I dozed off and on until going to bed around midnight and went to bed.
Friday, worked around the house doing all the chores that went undone all week shuttling back and forth to sit with Mom all week. Thought about going somewhere and doing something Friday night but just didn't have the energy.
Saturday, worked outside all day, came in and made a sandwich then went to Mom's to relive the sitter at 7:00 and watched the game. Nervous the entire time until the last touchdown because the coots have been the 4th quarter comeback kids all season. Mom would usually be out by that late, but she I guess she was wired so we watched the end of OK-OSU before she went to bed. Home to drink one beer and collapse.
Sunday, long walk with the pup around the lake, then grocery run, home to watch the Cam Newton Show because I love a good situation comedy. Had to run to Mom's for an hour between Sis leaving for a function and the sitter getting there at 4:30. Another stroll with the pup, then supper, then Walking Deads, then crashed.
Saturday night beatdown automatically elevates the score to 19/19 Covids, but honestly, I'm kinda glad to see football season coming to an end. The shuttling back and forth to Mom's and missing games has been tiring, and it's damnhard to watch your mother get slowly worse as both a fall risk and the moments of confusion from the Lewy Bodies dementia get slightly more frequent. Sis and I both agree that keeping her at home as long as possible is the best way to keep her alive, I'm not sure she'll last long if she goes to a facility.

The chicken kickin' superseded everything and made the entire weekend glow. So that felt great. Been a long time since APM felt good about a Clemson football win.
We did a whirlwind trip down to Sakerlina for Thanksgiving. Traffic was easy, I got all the essentials done - Thanksgiving dinner, a walk with the fam in Hopelands Gardens, a visit to Diddy PAW's grave, home safely.
All good.

Thu - as discussed earlier
Nov 29, 2021, 9:08 AM
|
|
lunch with mom and brother's family, dinner with wife's family. Everything went well and was good.
Fri - Wife's youngest brother turned 40 on Thanksgiving, so almost the entire family was in town to celebrate (only holdout was oldest brother who chose not to participate because there is one sibling remaining that is unvaccinated, weird). Supper at Casa Bella, with pictures, songs, skits - they go all out for decade parties. Wife turns 50 next year so will be interesting to see what they come up with. Was really good but service sucked, 4 hours later finally done. Back to inlaws house for drinks and more goofing off.
Sat - golf at Aiken Golf Club with wife's family. Played like crap on the front, played good on the back. Afterwards wife was not feeling well so she stayed home while I took daughter to inlaws so she could spend time with her cousin that is about her age. Game was on and I was the only Tiger in a house full of about 18-20 gamecocks. Was glorious.
Sun - golf at Palmetto with a couple of her family that were still in town. Played like crap on the front, played good on the back. Sent the holiday weekend off in style with a trip to Mellow Mushroom for a few beers with a buddy, brother and his wife. Home about 8:30 and totally exhausted so pretty much straight to the bed. Crashed at some point shortly thereafter.
Definitely a 30 out of 30 weekend, with 7 bonus points added in - 37/30.

Thursday: spent the day with my family at cousin's lake house. Good family time. Great weather. Sonof got to play with his cousins. Three generations all together having a good time. Great spread of food with all the traditional stuff plus some fried oysters and crab claws for appetizers. A++.
Friday: wifeof worked. Mom watched sonof and I got some yard projects done. Built a small stacked stone wall for the garden. That night we went to my in law's lake house. Solid A.
Saturday: the BEST day of football that I can remember. Only downside was that I came down with a sinus infection that hit midway through Bedlam. Even so, A+.
Sunday: lounged at the lake. Took a nap. Drove home. Picked up our Christmas tree. The sinus infection hit hard and I went to bed at 6. Still an A.
Overall: A+

Sattidy was the greatest day of college football in a long time.

drove down to ATL Wednesday...first road trip w/ the baby. that sucked. learned a lot.
talked to cardiologist Wednesday that heart's all clear...I'll post something on this later.
Thanksgiving was surprisingly good. Family got to meet baby...mom wanted a tenderloin so I got to cook that and it was amazeballs. food was pretty good, but got to stay up and sleep in w/ family on baby duty.
Came home Friday and road trip was way better. Spent the rest of the weekend Clark Griswolding my way around the house getting up Christmas lights. Spent 4 - 5 hrs sattidee ###### with lights that didn't work. got it all figgered out tho come Sunday.
just dropped baby off for 1st day of daycare. wife's a wreck but her ### needs to get back to work.

Will be good for your baby, and good for your wife. Other than kid is going to be sick every other week for the next couple of years.

CR08, and I can't actually remember the last time I wore khakis or pleated anything.
I did however once work with a UGA grad who would tuck his sweaters into his pants. We called him Tuck Everlasting.

Thursday - to dad's for Turkey day. Met my little Nephew for the first time. Good food. Good hang. Got end of day bj. Friday - goofed off all morning and then headed to a skeet shoot in Florence at a Buddy's cabin property. Good times. Saturday - Football and errands. 30-0. got laid. Nuff said. Sunday - Cooked a couple smoked beer can chickens in honor of wife's dad. His extended family all cooked in his honor. Had a couple pours of Whistlepig Farmstock Rye. Was tasty. Food was amazing. Sex again. 10/10.
