I’m not necessarily a big fan of Tomi Lahren, who is scheduled to speak at the Madren Center on April 8th. Change.org reports 2,600 Clemson students have signed a petition demanding Lahren be banned from campus. Whatever happened to universities promoting a wide range of views? Hopefully the administration does not cave in and prevent Lahren from speaking.

they would show up and ask her tough questions, not try to cancel her.
But I can see why this is upsetting to some, the woman is little more than a well-paid antagonist that figured out that she could earn a good living stirring the pot. I am not sure how appropriate it is to have her on campus unless it is an open forum with a moderator. That would be a good opportunity for students.

I would be upset if Louis Farrakhan were to speak at Clemson, but would 100% be in favor of allowing him to speak. It’s ok to not share someone’s views no matter how much you disagree with them or even find them abhorrent. However, banning someone from speaking on a college campus seems childish.

Clemson has had worse before. I remember David Duke speaking at Clemson when he was running for the 1992 REPUBLICAN nomination. LOL

My granddaughter is a Clemson soph. She says it’s pretty intimidating on campus to be a conservative. The 2nd granddaughter starts at Clemson in the fall. May God have mercy on any professor or student trying to silence the younger ones conservative voice. Lol.

conservative...so just have a difficult time believing she is intimidated for just having conservative views. I’m not doubting her/you...and if her family/area is super religious/conservative, I could see being a bit out of her element, but intimidated?

That’s what she tells us. She doesn’t fear being physically harmed but says it’s clear her views are looked upon very negatively. Yes, we are a Christian family but none of us are “in your face dogmatics”. She certainly isn’t. She just has a biblical standard that she follows. As for Clemson being very conservative, I think it’s still more conservative than many schools but it’s changing.

Fair enough

I could also see kids being less respectful of other views these days. When I was at Clemson in the early 90’s I never recall discussing politics with any of my friends...although I’m certain I had friends from center left to center right. Even if something did come up, I don’t ever recall anyone being disrespectful. Unfortunately, a different world today.

You know , you got me thinking. I can’t remember a single time discussing politics with another student in college. Never really thought about it.

She may have a few enemies on both sides...she’s a big fan of Trump...but she’s also pro-choice and supports gay marriage.

Unfortunately, if they can't prevent her from speaking

(it's insane to prevent someone from speaking just because they don't represent your views, by the way) - they'll show up and shout her down.
I knew the world had gone mad when the acting head of the DHS was shouted down at Georgetown about mid-way through Trump's tenure.
