Does Auburn have one of the worst offenses in the country? Has Clemson beaten anyone worth a crap? Auburn would be a favorite against Clemson.
The AP poll is completely meaningless, but Clemson has done absolutely nothing to ranked in any top 25 poll.

Bad offense but elite level defense and the team is 7-3 with all 3 losses coming to ranked foes. I mean Clemson shouldn't be super highly ranked but somewhere around 21-25 would be pretty reasonable.

You leave out the fact that 5 of those wins were tossups that resulted from the defense doing a last minute stand, and only one of those teams has a winning record.

We've lost to every team we've played in the Top 25 and all of our wins have come against unranked teams so it isn't all that surprising that no one sees us in the Top 25. If we beat Wake on Saturday I would expect us to crack the Top 25 next week.

Unfortunately, our strength of schedule and lack of style points will hold us back all year. Looking at two different rating agencies, our strength of schedule compared to Auburn's is 47 v. 14 and 16 v. 3. The better question is this obsession with Cincinnati with a strength of schedule of 99 and 58 on these two lists.

Cincinatti is undefeated, have blown out almost everyone, and manhandled #9 Notre Dame. Not sure you can make a rational argument against them.

Jesus I think that with this very same BS with the poles year in and year out involving Clemson whether we are #1, or not ranked at all, they have always found their little petty excuses to knock us down as far as possible bc of who we play as an ACC conference team. It will never change unless, the ACC as a whole rises their competition in FB, or if Clemson leaves the ACC for the SEC.
The rankings we've received isn't just bc we're Clemson, bc, over the decades Clemson has beat some pretty high ranked teams, we get ranked the way that we do mostly bc we play in a very weak ACC FB conference, and we will never get the benefit of doubt unless we are beating everybody we're lined up against, especially against SEC teams.
If we would have beat UGA and slipped against just one ACC team, and killed the rest of them the way that we had been doing before season 2021, we would still be in the top 5 today if we hadn't loss to UGA, NC State, Pitt, and narrowly won against GT, BC, Syracuse, FSU, and Louisville.
We are ranked today by the way we have performed this entire season, and that has been by barely escaping a loss with everybody else we've played against!!!!

I thought it was just early season jitters and learning the playbook..but no we are just a bad offensive team. 5 stars all over the place but not much production with little to no improvement. With that being said..we have the talent to beat anyone but have the propensity offensively to lose to anyone. Defensively we can play with everyone and are better than most teams and that's why we have wins this year.

Why does a number by the schools name matter this season?
If we win out we will get your wish. But you can't honestly sit there and tell that this is a top 25 team. Yeah the defense is arguably the 2nd best defense in the country when healthy. But this offense is so incredibly bad that it neutralizes the defensive efforts (i.e. we got a INT against UCONN in the redzone and didn't even get a 1st down and settled for a FG). I couldn't name 10 different P5 teams that I can comfortably say we would beat by double digits (10 points minimum).
So yeah, I can understand why nobody wants to rank us. It's not some conspiracy this season. We have a 7-3 record, yeah. But look at who we have beaten. SC State, barely beat GT, BC, Syracuse, FSU, Louisville, & UCONN (Nobody worth a darn considering BC is the only team that barely has a winning record). This team is just bad. Why do you think Oklahoma was ranked 8th and not the top 4 while being undefeated? Everyone knew they weren't good. And now they got the L to Baylor in pretty decisive fashion (score doesn't indicate how lopsided that game actually was). Just like the Georgia games score doesn't indicate how lopsided that game was as well. It was a phenomenal effort by our defense but the offense literally did nothing except lose the game for us. Georgia's offense at least put up something. Need I remind you of the 2 YARDS rushing we had in that game? 2!
Auburn being no better than a dog fart has nothing to do with our ranking. I don't think they deserve to be ranked either along with us. But they've done more than we have for sure and don't look absolutely non-existant on one side of the ball.
But if we win out, we will get your desperate desire to see the ranking number by our name.
