What a ******* idiot! NEVER, EVER pitch on the goal line. If you don't make it, the D has to call a timeout and then FG. No brainer.

How about just put your QB under center and have fullback push the pile.

Trevor Lawrence used an inside shovel-pass to ETN inside the 5-yard line vs Bammers in national championship game.
Of course, it was a forward pitch behind the line of scrimmage. So, if ETN had dropped the pitch, it would have been called an incomplete pass. That's a much better play-call.

No doubt one of the dumbest coaching calls I’ve seen in a long time.
If I was an FSU fan his post game explanation would leave me very concerned.
Time will tell, but for Clemson’s purposes, Norvell might be perfect, a decent coach but not a great coach. Hopefully he wins a bunch of games, has a competitive program, but never wins an ACC championship.

I think FSU had a good game plan and executed it pretty well. They won the game by their QB slipping out of sack after sack and tackle after tackle. He just always managed to slip away and then find the hole or open guy.
Defensively they looked good at times and a little light on their feet at times. FSU really had no answer for the power run game from LSU and Kelly is a DA for not recognizing that and using it when they were within a single score earlier in the game.
FSU coach made two huge blunders. One after the first miffed punt by LSU they tried to run the ball. First down should have been a pass into the endzone. You would think that at FSU a coach would follow the path of Legendary Bobby Bowden and throw into the endzone on first down. Watching FSU all those years he coached, he always attacked the endzone on first play after a turnover when it was in striking distance such as redzone. It reinforced momentum. Second was of course the pitch play. QB sneak and that game ends right there.
So my take is that this FSU coach will be a more dangerous Doren type due to speedier talent unless he learns fast and on the fly.
Pretty good preparation for the game average decision making in game.

FWIW: Kelly looked and acted like some corrupt politician caught in a lie on camera and then trying cover by being arrogant and condescending. We have always known he was a prick but they had many many camera catches last night of his disdain for everything around him.
He better be careful to the fans down that way. the Bayou gators don't leave much left to find.
