1. Talking about taking visits to schools to compare them

2. Talking about giving other schools "a shot"
3. "I honestly don't know what Clemson coaches would think about me real really really wanting an Oregon or USC offer and seriously considering them" - nor does he care what they think apparently.
^^ None of these things are inherently wrong of a recruit, but that recruit shouldn't be committed anywhere if he's saying these types of things.
Personally, I think Woulard will be a HUGE get for CU, because I really don't see this kid being anything more than Nkemdiche: Round 2.

What is a commitment?

After watching this video, it is evident that we at Clemson do not have a true commitment from DW. He still has his recruiting process in full swing. What we do have is a favorites list with us at number one right now. I would be very happy for us to sign DW in 2014 because I think he has a very promising future. I sometimes wonder if it would be better to just not accept commitments before a player's senior year and tell them to take their allowed visits so there is no confusion in their minds. I truly believe we have the best campus and school family in the country and the recruits that have that spirit will sign with us irregardless of a "verbal commitment".

Totally agree. Kids accept Clemson offer and commit

while a ton of schools have yet to offer them. So they commit and then start thinking twice about it when the offers come rolling in.
I agree. We shouldn't accept them that early.
Examples: 1. RN 2. DSG 3. D Watson 4. Dalvin Cook

It is an interesting debate, do you come in early with a recruit or wait until near the end of the cycle? I guess if you have the prestige of an Alabama for instance, a late offer may hold a lot of sway with a youngster. Up and coming programs, like Clemson, may have to get in early and stay on the recruit throughout the process.

I certainly am not against offering early.

but I'm starting to feel skeptically of the early commitments and the idea of trying to get recruits to commit early (especially before their senior year.

Anytime a GOOD player commits as a junior, we might as well expect all kind of indecision, decommitments, etc. before signing day. That is just the way it is.
Anyway, when some seniors say they are committed, it only means they want to reserve a spot until they find a place they like better. Now, that does not apply to all recruits. Some mean what they say when they commit!

Coaches are in a lose /lose situation here.If he doesn't offer, fans want to know why.If he does and the kid commits, what do you do?Do you tell him we are offering but don't want a commitment?I look at it this way, there must be something there the kid likes, and at some point we were #1 on his list.I think that says alot about Clemson! It's recruiting, run with the tigers or stay out of it!

Don't think the coaches much care what the fans think.

I'm just looking at the trend.
Early commits backefired:
1.RN 2. D Robinson 3. Kamara 4. Daniel 5. Jenkins
Late offers/interest that seems promising/worked out:
1. Ebo 2. Preister 3 (Lawson potentially) 4.(Wouldard potentially) 5. (Clark potentially) 6. (Baker potentially)

THESE ARE KIDS

There coming to Clemson or going elsewhere to play football should not be the end all of our lives as fans!!
CLEMSON will get the kids that WANT to be.....AT CLEMSON!
The ones that for whatever reason choose to go elsewhere...it is their loss!
And WE ARE....and will still BE Clemson!!!
