My game day experience Saturday

Oct 23, 2022, 6:05 PM

99 graduate bringing 2 teenagers to the game Saturday. My honest thoughts on the weekend experience.

No fireworks after Tigerama on Friday night. I always enjoyed that as a kid, teenager, and adult. None this year.

We left from Seneca at 9am to get to our parking spot near the womens softball field and finally got there about 11:15. Not what I was expecting.

Fat lady next to me was taking half my seat and screaming constantly. 2 Yankees behind us were giving a loud and and unwanted play by play along with uneducated thoughts on what Clemson “should” be doing. Some negative Dabo yells too.

The huge new video game board did not show replays 99% of the time. Disappointing. No real time scores of other games in real time 99% of the time.

‘99 grad and I left very disappointed Saturday after spending a good sum on tickets and parking. I’ll watch from home going forward. I know that is an unpopular opinion, but it’s honest by a Tiger Grad and fan.

There were fireworks at Tigerama. Since you got that wrong, we’ll, I didn’t pay attention to the rest of your post.

Where were those fireworks? They certainly were from lot 5 like they were in the 90’s. They werent from the old rugby grounds or the #### where we watched them in recent years. Honest question as no one around Clemson knew.

At the stadium. At Tigerama. Personally, I watched them from the marina…looked cool over Death Valley and reflecting in the water.

Left boat dock at 0730 - hit thick fog bank at 85 bridge (all the way to the Walker Course) at 0745 - made it safely to lake beach behind ESSO at 0900 - no tix, so tailgated at many friends (and strangers!) spots! - Esso Club was rocking early and late - Had a great day in TIGERTOWN till 1600 - departed and went to dinner with friends and family at the Galley - departed dinner and tied up the tritoon at 2200 - Long day, but great day in God's Country!

To my knowledge, they have never shot fireworks from inside the stadium. If wrong , old timers please correct. Lot 5 on 90s. Old rugby slash “ ####” which t net blocks out. “D.I.ke.” They have always been outside the stadium and visible fronm any parking lot around Clemson. We were at littjohn —-a campus high point——and never saw any from any direction.

Re: My game day experience Saturday

Oct 23, 2022, 8:25 PM

We have great fireworks capabilities inside the stadium now and shoot them every game. It appears they went off from on top of the video board, but as the picture shows, I was at the marina. They could be seen all over west campus and the lake at about 8.

Of courses we cheered. There was nothing negative about Clemson or the football team said… it was an honest opinion on this past Saturdays game day experience. No replay of the Ngata foul. No cell service and plenty of TV time outs to give scores. I don’t like know it all play calling wanna be Yankees complaining around me. Or a fat lady taking up up 2 seats. Oct 23, 2022, 8:44 PM [ in reply to You sound like a miserable person. ]

Of course we found positives. Yes we had my 2 teenagers at their favorite school and they didn’t care about replays or other CFB scores. Yes they are spoiled thinking we should win every game we play. I was there during Hatfield and West.

Yes we saw friends and the floats. The e-ticket thing went smoothly. We were in the stadium from the hill run to the gathering at the Paw.

The I don’t care how you feel about your game day experience thing is but alarming to me. It is very easy to watch at home without the hassle for the paying parent.

Based on your post, it seemed that you weren't able to enjoy your experience.

I never said that I don't care about your game day experience. I'm sorry you found it so frustrating and annoying.

I agree that the new video board is disappointing with all the ads. It doesn't really count as "the eighth largest video board in college football" when a significant portion of the screen is filled with ads.

Yes, it is easier to watch games at home. That's why a lot of fans choose to do that, for various reasons.

YOU control how you feel.

Leaving at 9am for a BIG noon game and expecting easy/quick journey to your parking lot was a BIG mistake. Proper planning prevents this...... 85K all coming at the same time.......

Fans are passionate.....and different. Again, how you react to them is your choice. Now, if someone was a personal affront to you, then you would have a complaint. I've been to almost all the ACC and SEC venues, if you don't like the Clemson experience, then you are really going to hate most of the other big-time venues.

99% of the time???? They flash scores pretty regularly at games....like every other minute...its pretty continual on ribbon between uper and lower decks. 99% is NOT accurate

99, 90, 80 or whatever %. Did they show the Ngata penalty on the big board? I didn’t see the slow rerun of whether DJs knee was down on the fumble and 14 point swing either. I want to see those. Even if we we’re not the beneficiary of the call Show me on the big screen and I’ll Judge for myself.

noon game... they always suck starting about 9:30 it gets backed way up. Takes at least 30-45 extra minutes to get to parking.

My complaint was the ticket readers getting into the stadium, they were ridiculously slow... would not read some phones at all... family of 5 in front of me had ticketmaster tickets and the scanner would not read them... instead of taking them off to the side to straighten it out they had a nice 5 minute conversation in loud voices about it... took a good 20-30 seconds to read mine... 1 minute per 2 people... that is 120 people per hour, that is not efficient when you need to get a few thousand in at any given gate.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: My game day experience Saturday

Oct 24, 2022, 12:37 AM

Let's break this down...

1999 - Clemson not ranked in the top 25...

1. No fireworks after Tigerama on Friday night. I always enjoyed that as a kid, teenager, and adult. None this year.

- there were fireworks, apparently they just were not where they were in 1999. That is on you for thinking it was 1999 still.

We left from Seneca at 9am to get to our parking spot near the womens softball field and finally got there about 11:15. Not what I was expecting.

- Noon game and 80,000 people converging on the stadium... if you think this was 1999 and there were not 80,000 people headed to a nationally televised, homecoming, ranked vs ranked ACC title hopes on the line again your fault for not remembering the same thing happens every noon game. If you want to complain about the slow a$$ ticket readers slowing down getting people into the game that is legit...

Fat lady next to me was taking half my seat and screaming constantly. 2 Yankees behind us were giving a loud and and unwanted play by play along with uneducated thoughts on what Clemson “should” be doing. Some negative Dabo yells too.
- they paid for their seats too... did you tell the fat lady to sing at the end of the game? The not exactly football savvy comments happen every week in every stadium across the country... you could just enjoy a great football game and make your own memories with your kids or complain about everything. Surprised you did not complain about the lines in the bathroom and concessions at halftime.

The huge new video game board did not show replays 99% of the time. Disappointing. No real time scores of other games in real time 99% of the time.
- YGBSM, your at a top 25 matchup in Death Valley and your worried about real time scores? Did they have real time scores in 1999? F-No. You have a phone, you can get all the real time scores you want on your phone. Replays are not a guaranteed thing and again you could stream the game on your phone and get all the replays available. Or you could enjoy the game with the new Dabotron and yell at the top of your lungs when their team is on offense like the 79,999 people around you and enjoy the game with your kids...

‘99 grad and I left very disappointed Saturday after spending a good sum on tickets and parking. I’ll watch from home going forward. I know that is an unpopular opinion, but it’s honest by a Tiger Grad and fan.
- you got one thing right, this is an unpopular opinion... hope your kids had more fun than you did...

Sucked down a couple beers as we walked to the gate and made it into ours seats to watch the most existing 25 seconds of college football. Watch our team win and go to 8-0. Then headed to the ESSO club for some great food, drinks and music. Met some friends downtown while the last of the traffic cleared. Left at 9:00 PM and back home before 10:00. What an awesome day in Tigertown!
