then doesn't do much after that, then we'll know. Of course, that's kind of how it worked with Monte, so I'm wondering if we messed up firing Jack. We'll always wonder what the last 7 seasons would have been like if Jack had stayed.

I still think we made a mistake firing Jack Leggett, but someone wanted to make a change. When we hired Monte Lee, I thought he was great hire. He had the C of C in a great position. He did a good job here at Clemson. I don’t know if another year would would have made a difference or not.

Huh? We made a mistake if you’re pleased with the past seven years of results. If so, you’re probably the only one. If anything, we made a mistake hiring Monte Lee in the first place. Great guy, but could not get it done. Surprised we started 14-0 this year and couldn’t even make the tournament. That’s hard to believe.

It's been 7 years and 2 seasons of missing the tournament. Are we supposed to believe that he'll somehow turn it around next season and beyond?
On a side note, I think Brownell should have been fired 3 years ago.

There is a reason why 2010 is the last time Clemson has been to Omaha or a Super. That was the time when Title IX and the 11.7 came into effect it really hampered Clemson baseball in recruiting. Clemson has worked hard over the past 5 or 6 years to help the baseball team in recruiting. I know all the changes in college athletics and especially football is hard to swallow but there is a silver lining when it comes to baseball and that is I think we are getting closer and closer to offering guys full rides. How head baseball coaches have not banded together and come out against the 11.7 and how it has created an extremely unleveled playing field is beyond me. I mean women's softball at least gets like 17. I don't understand the rule and why it came about I do understand the Title IX law which Obama enacted which I don't know how it is constitutional bc it is a discriminating law but I guess like history has shown as long as it is the Government that discriminates it's fine. I digress to say I don't think it mattered whether you fired Leggett or hired Monte or someone else bc they all would have dealt with the same issues that has caused the slide of Clemson baseball. I do believe it is getting better bc Clemson knows how important baseball is to fans and how prideful that program is and the fans that support it. Whether Monte was the right guy to continue it I don't know bc I do believe he had his flaws. No coach will be successful here if the university doesn't do everything possible to assist in subsidizing the scholarship issue until full rides become reality which like I said I do believe will happen soon.

Yes I know other schools dealt with it as well but I'm not a fan of other schools but you did see other schools that use to be powers start to struggle and you saw schools like Vandy take over bc they could subsidize the other part of the scholarship the NCAA refused schools to give. Plus you had the rule where you had to give so many players a certain percentage of a scholarship and it was just the dumbest thing EVER enacted by the NCAA. Sorry but this whole thing really really really p's me off.

Agree. the 11.7 rule is about as stupid as it gets. NCAA going down the drain hopefully it's replacement will make it right

No, we slipped below mediocrity and Clemson Baseball should be better than that and demand more. Frankly if ML had not won the ACC he might would have or should have been let go earlier in my opinion. As for Basketball we should demand more but we should also spend more money but amount spent does not always guarantee wins.

No. When you are trying to improve their is a chance you might get worse before you get better. It's a chance you take. Under Jack the program was declining and Monte let the slide continue. The mistake was made when the AD made a bad hire. Another mistake was not identifying the first mistake sooner. It happens to anyone who hires and fires people.
