PCR tests showing a positive result...for a person that has had COVID...doesn't mean the test is bad.

Geez man...

Also, the CDC hasn't called for providing a negative test prior to returning to work/leaving isolation after being infected for a very long time (I'm not 100% sure they ever did...based on the guidance revisions I have archived).

test.

For example, the OSHA ETS (and I'm not suggesting I favor it...I sure as heck don't) doesn't require weekly testing of unvaccinated employees if they have had a positive covid test within the last 90 days.

I don't know what the data says, but anecdotally, I've never heard of anyone that had COVID thinking that they have it again within 3 months of having it. Is that a common issue?

say they've gotten covid twice since August or so. Of course, the time frame between their first round and second may be greater than 3 months.

Throughout the holidays there were tons of people who got tested before and after visiting with family, I would be curious to see how much people who previously had covid skewed the case statistics that we're wanting to base a lot of public policy off of.

I would think someone who had covid within the last 3 months wouldn't likely be someone that would test before and after visiting someone...but that's probably just based on what I would do/not do myself.

I think going by absolute case counts on a daily basis doesn't make sense. There are clear trends and the moving averages tell a little more than daily counts. Either way you slice it, more people are getting COVID right now than a month ago. It is 3 times more or 2.5 times more? Does it really matter in terms of policy/direction?

People demanding negative covid tests for Christmas dinner wasn't exactly uncommon, my sister and her fiancé ended up not going to his side of the families get together over it. Did you see that mob in NYC that showed up for free tests? There's still a lot of hysteria out there.

I agree, 3 times more or 2.5 times more makes no difference. I personally think it's time to move on completely instead of doubling down on everything that didn't work in the first place. Mask/vaccine mandates, closing certain businesses, etc.

covid within the last 3 months?

Anyways, I'm with you partially on your last statement. I think we have to put a shut-down mentality behind us. I think reasonable mask rules still make sense. I think vaccines make a lot of sense, but don't think the federal government has any right to mandate them and the OSHA ETS is very misguided, not to mention a huge overstepping of federal power. There are really good reasons why such regulations shouldn't be anywhere near the federal level.

With the booster, or otherwise. This is in Anderson, SC so I’m sure it’s not an anomaly.

If a private business wants to require masks that’s their prerogative, but I think we need to stop pretending they make much, if any difference. Agree about the huge federal overreach.

US didn't hit 50% vaccination rate until July or so. The numbers of deaths are pretty heavily skewed to Jan/Feb...165,000 deaths from Jan 1 to Feb 27 and a total of about 468,000 deaths YTD.

Also, delta spread about 50% more than the alpha variant.

Are you really arguing that vaccinations aren't greatly reducing the death rate??
