Clemson fans wanting a "Splash" hire. Well, I remember back when Dabo was hired, the same people wanted a "SPlash" hire then too. The names being floated around were Muschamp,Kiffen,etc...

The difference is back then we couldn't even get the big names to interview. We can now. Why get someone with zero name recognition and no experience when you now have the situation where you can grab a top recruiter that has had top 15 defenses the last 20 years?

Do you even follow Clemson football!
Anyone being considered is very experienced and has experience recruiting!
The fact that you think you could pick out somebody better than what Dabo Will says volumes!

Hindsight is 20/20.

As for Brent, he was considered a top defense coordinator who a lot of teams wanted. He was proven for 11 years. All but 1 ranked in top 20. He was also considered a great recruiter.

People in Norman had a knee jerk reaction much like some here and wanted him gone. So to say BV wasn't a proven hire is ridiculous and rewriting history. His peer review was top notch. It's not like Dabo took a chance and hired a hidden gem. Several programs had attempted to lure him away through the years.

The reason he left was Bob Stoops. VB had been a Co-DC with Mike Stoops until MS took the HC job at Arizona. After that VB was the sole DC. When MS got fired, Bob told VB that he would again be a co-DC. VB was not happy with that and told Bob no. The rest of the story I'm sure you know.
