Really pulling for Graham Neff to do well here but...

Apr 20, 2022, 12:54 AM

His timidness to pull the trigger on a failing coach in Brownell is worrisome. We need a strong person to lead our athletic department that can make tough decisions. Thus far he's kinda followed in Dan Radakovich's shoes and sit back and let Dabo "please the masses" with his performance.

Our basketball program is struggling BIG right now and anyone that can't see it is either blind or refuses to open their eyes.

unless they are forced to. Give him a year, then we shall see. If we are in this same spot next year and no action is taken, then the criticism is warranted.

By the way, Basketball, Baseball and Football may need a knot jerked in them by then. This is not the time for lack of courage in leadership!

First thing Dabo did as interim head coach was fire Rob Spence.

He woke up that morning as the wide receivers coach, and by lunchtime he was firing the OC.

Everybody that ever had an argument with Dabo

had a puckered ######## that day

That wasn't exactly a difficult decision

Obviously it's difficult in general to fire people you've worked with, but firing Spence was pretty close to a no-brainer for Dabo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The point is, he did it immediately. He didn’t wait a year and let things get worse.***

Spence was difficult... Koenning was his best move to date...

I would say firing Brownell is an equal no-brainer.

It was the obvious move

Tommy was fired because of Spence’s stupid 4 TE system.

As much as I'm ready for belabored Brownell regime to end

I agree it is wise to wait until next year to cut the cord. Not for the sake of the already well-compensated coach who has had ten years to perform and unite the alum/fan base, but for AD Neff to line up his candidates, do his homework, and make a selection he can stand behind to lead the next era of Clemson Basketball. Good luck to Neff in his evaluation and selection process.

The BB program actually got worse the very moment Neff let his intentions be known publicly. That should have been a private conversation held in Neff's office behind closed doors. If it had, Brad would probably still have his assistant coaches, a couple of players, and a commit that bolted!!!

But then he wouldn’t have been in the papers

Give him a year.

Apr 20, 2022, 10:39 AM

Next year (this coming fall) will be much more interesting to see what kinda of changes he will implement.

I know he’s probably had ideas about how he’ll go about looking for a new head coach (hiring a search firm / doing the hiring process mostly himself) and maybe he has a list of candidates he would love to hire or bring in.
I don’t blame him at all for wanting to be on the job for a little while because as soon as he makes a decision to fire someone; his job depends on how well the replacement does.

Now he has a full season to begin researching candidates and possible even putting out “feelers” to see who would be interested. See what pops up in the back channels.

I believe we needed a change in basketball this past season. No doubt about it. I’m just saying personally I’ll show Neff some patience for now and wait to see how this upcoming year goes before I begin to make my decision on how he’s doing. In my opinion you can be slower to fire someone but if you are it puts more pressure on you to get a home run hire that can show improvements and brings excitement.

There isn't going to be a need for a new basketball coach

Apr 20, 2022, 10:58 AM

Brad Brownell is going to have a great year. And the Lunatic Fringe will drive straight off a cliff.

The basketball program is fine. Just check the news this morning. And Neff is going to do a great job. Get off his back.

Yes wait in the clubhouse. Brown L Season 14 could be the magic year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is there a single one of you who has

Apr 20, 2022, 11:50 AM

Ever had a conversation with the new AD or even met him????

He is a quality young man who will do a great job at my university. His youthful enthusiasm is a very big plus for Clemson and it will show. I assure you that he will let the lame opinions of a not so knowledgeable Tigernet fan base affect his decisions.

Management 101.

You never ever put off a decision to terminate someone you know you will eventually have to terminate. It accomplishes absolutely nothing for the organization. It merely delays the inevitable and continues to let problems fester and often times get even worse. Prime example here is losing assistant coaches and players who know Brownell's days are now numbered. Even BB knows it. If not he is as dumb as a box of rocks.

We now have 27th best recruiting class in nation. I would hold judgment and let next season play out. I’ll be on second row supporting the team, not wasting energy criticizing the coach whose performance and future have been addressed by AD.
