There is no doubt Clowney is a physical beast

Feb 26, 2014, 7:42 AM

but he is also full of ####. Spurrier let him slide with his "injuries", but the NFL evaluators are calling him out on it. He chose not to participate in a lot of drills at the combine because of a tight hip. His 40 was very impressive, I'll give him that, but his laziness hasn't changed since he left the SC campus.

From Yahoo Sports:

"South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney — There's no way not to marvel at his blazing 40 time of 4.53 seconds, which paced all defensive linemen (and would have placed him second among tight ends and 14th among running backs), and Clowney also put up impressive veritcal- and broad-jump numbers, finishing second among D-linemen in both events. But Clowney opted out of the remainder of the drills, telling NFL Network's Willie McGinest he had a tight hip flexor, which NFL evaluators rolled their eyes at. All those impressive workouts reinforced the questionable motor and undeniable physical skills that scouts have seen on tape for two years. He's still a top-six pick, but Clowney hasn't endeared himself to every team picking that high.

He may be a physical beast but he's a mental midget.***

Clowney will be the #1 pick, rest assured.

Not so sure

Best player/potential doesn't always get picked above others in the draft. Clowney could get traded or not even drafted by Texans. Let's be honest out of all their needs DE isn't exactly at the top of the list.

I will be the first to admit he is a physical freak

Feb 26, 2014, 6:08 PM

But it seems like he relies on it (who wouldn't.) I'm not sure he knows how to play football. IMO teams made a mistake in running away from him. Often allowing his freakish speed to make the play from the back side. They should have been running more plays towards him. It appeared to me that he had almost no ability to diagnose a run play or more complicated blocking schemes.

That and better LTs slowed him down considerably. Which adds to the effort concerns.

A beast is smarter than Clowney.***

No fan of clowney but I must say

I sure would like to have his bank account in the near future.

lol...

very shortly after he gets the big bucks he will probably be saying the same thing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Still peplexed by ESPN's Clowney bombing almost only

Feb 26, 2014, 11:25 PM

mentioning his 2012 stats. Do they think pro teams didn't notice that he had a lackluster 2013 season?

So about his foot injury. Was he lying then or is he lying now?

His character maturity has honestly impressed me; however,

Feb 27, 2014, 10:14 AM

it is still fun to think he's not very bright & read the insults. I had suspicions that he might self-destruct on his way to the pros or let his physical gifts go to waste by not maintaining his impeccable stature but I believe Clowney will have a very impressive first year @ next level.

He may have a greater immediate impact on the game, but it is my firm belief that Watkins will have greater career endurance.

What about qb's who didn't even throw. Where is all the negative press for them?
