NLRB LAW SUIT Against USC

May 23, 2023, 2:05 PM

If the NLRB wins their la suit against Univ. Southern Cal Football and basketball teams in which it wants hose players classified as employees, college sports as a student athlete program is over.

Think about how classifying a FB player or Basketball player changes the whole concept of being a student athlete. If you are now an employee, you get paid by position and skill set as well as performance. Same as any employee. QB's get $200,000 a yr. plus bonus for TD's ,etc. at say, Alabama. Clemson only pays half that. Where are the top QB's going. OL gets paid more than DL. 4star gets paid less than 5 star. Kickers get bonus based on length of FG made. talk about a can of worms. No schollies. No limit on number of employees. Think about it. It will not only be limited to just FB and basketball. You think NIL is bad. Just wait.

Not to mention, they don't fall under NCAA rules employees, so you have to include their free tuition, meals, boarding, surgeries, clothing, insurance as income as well. Then not to mention the rich schools could hire more than the 85 schollies since they are not student athletes.

Those dummies in Cali are the ones that started this NIL without limits, then everyone felt like they needed to follow suit. Why does the rest of US feel like they need to follow the Cali Libs, I have no idea.

I never understood all the idiots here clamoring to pay

players. You knew the ending of the story before you even read the book.

The birth of the NIL was the start of this fiasco.

Thanks SCOTUS.

Giving players equal spending money isn't the problem.

Which benefits are taxable?

Room, board, tuition, books, insurance, rehab therapy, coaching, fitness centers, physical therapy (trainers), tutors, etc?

Congress will have a field day sending laws to the IRS who can then decide how to interpret those laws. It'll take more than those 78,000 new IRS agents just to monitor college athletes and make sure they are paying their fair share.

California is a legal nightmare. I don't think all states would follow suit they way they did for NIL. Also, classifying players as employees is much, much more complicated than allowing NIL. It will not happen quickly, or on a wide-scale, and maybe not at all.

like we needed another reason to hate California.***
