NIL is bad news for programs that aren’t Clemson…

I see lots of folks worried about NIL impact on Clemson and I get it…..

But consider this….

- Dabo has already a created a culture that stresses team/family first and recruits to that culture..
- Programs that cheat won’t just start “cheating” with NIL …they already have been, but somehow Clemson still recruits well and excels..Why? See my first points..
- Let’s say for example ..you’re at a program that attracts players based on path to NFL… less emphasis on recruiting character and building character…what happens when a star recruit …now star player - starts pulling in seven figures on NIL… how soon before he “opts out” of a regular season game because of a minor injury or because he’s tired? How less likely is he to give it everything he’s got every down? When you recruit character and foster character the program has a whole different mindset…Dabo has created a unique culture and atmosphere at Clemson…

That said …Clemson will still excel at creating and maximizing NIL (within the rules)

The Clemson kids will just view it as a perk at Clemson (a really nice one), but not the reason to play for Clemson…


What happens when some kid runs into trouble with the law? Do you think Gatorade or whoever keeps paying him the NIL at the risk of brand damage …nope…

Clemson players have occasional legal troubles too obviously…no one is perfect and no program is either….

But again the Clemson culture IS different…
