Anytime you use Saban as the comparison you have to believe the other guy is pretty good. He has no idea how good Brent will be as a HC. None of us do.

I mean, obviously. Like him or hate him, there's never been another Nick Saban. I hate Finebaum, but I don't disagree. All he was saying was that it's too soon to anoint him an elite head coach before he's coached a single game. "I think there's every reason to think he can be successful, although most of his best players went off to Southern Cal," Finebaum said. "I don't know how you could look at him in the same breath as Kirby Smart right now." I know y'all want to get angry about everything, but are you honestly going to say he's a top 5 head coach right now?

Problem is that I have not heard anyone say the things that Finebaum makes up that people are saying about Venables. I think the term is strawman. He invests something someone says and then pontificates why it is wrong.

the first insightful thing Finebaum says.
I will never understand why anyone pays attention to that man. He has no insight and a clear agenda. Just ignore him.

The thing that bothers me about Finebaum is you never heard of him when DuBose, Francione and Shula were at Bama. He's a coattail rider. I look for Finebaum to announce his retirement about 5 minutes after Saban moves on. If college football has taught us anything it's there a ebbs and flows to every program. Bama is in high tide (all puns intended) but Saban won't coach forever.

Nick Saban himself wasn't NICK SABAN until he came back

to college football and established his dynasty at Alabama. Yes, he had the one Natty at LSU. But, more recently, he had been a flop in the NFL, and took the first train out of Miami he could find back to Alabama.
College football, more than any other sport, is all about "fits the culture". The stars aligned in a big way for Saban to be what he has become at Alabama, just as they did for Dabo Swinney to accomplish what he has here at Clemson.
I don't think there will ever be a "next" either one of them. Brent Venables has his own trail to blaze at Oklahoma. And, I siriusly doubt if Pawl Finebaum has a Hot Clue in Hail how his tenure there will turn out. Butt, No, he won't be Nick Saban, and that's a good thing.

I can't stand that ##### with ears, Finebaum, but this one time I hope he's right. I can't wish good tidings for Venables at OU.

Nick Saban is the best CFB coach of all time. Venables has yet to coach a game.
